boboski (1095), USA Jan 9, 2008 A thin tan head slowly recedes, never fully. The body ours out a deep burned brown. The aroma is reminiscent of re-heated brownies sprinkled with coffee grounds. Chocolate malt is foremost, followed by caramel and roasted grain, then coffee and mild vanilla and ashy smokiness. Very sweet, almost painfully so with a prolonged whiff; very nice but too lactic. The flavor is still sweet, but now a medium-high level, more enjoyable and less intrusive. Coffee is the most dominant characteristic, followed closely by semi-sweet cocoa, powdery and gritty. alcohol is mildly detectable but warms substantially in a sweet and chocolatey finish that is a touch roasty on the back side. The mouthfeel is medium to medium-full bodied, smooth, mildly carbonated and lightly oily. Above average, well-crafted, though too much sweet coffee presence for me to get into it. As sweetness builds with each successive sip this becomes quite difficult to drink.
