Commercial Description:
We have reformulated the recipe for our pale ale from scratch for 2007. The new version of our pale ale is lighter in body due to the use of German pilsner malt. The hops are all US grown and they are increased quite a bit. The result is a light and slightly dry pale ale with a dominating hops presence and a relatively long, bitter finish. Ølfabrikken Pale Ale (2007) is easily recognizable by its blue label.

(Please notice, that a single batch of the "old" pale ale is on the streets with the new label. Ølfabrikken Pale Ale 2007 should have batch number 274 or later).

Ølfabrikken Pale (2007) is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle and keg like all Ølfabrikken beers.

Bottle at Tre Små Rum, Gothenburg. Orange/pale brown color with an off-white head. Aroma of american hops, citrus, sweet fruit, pine needles and strawberries. Hoppy taste with notes of grape, pine, strawberries, grass, soap, and lightly rosted malt. Bitter and dry finish.

Draught. Hoppy citrus aroma. Flowery citrus hop flavour, very dry. Excellent, really.

Bottled under supervision of the former owner-masters. Immediately delivering heady aromas of fermenting grasses masked by zesty pangs of citrus, this is by no means a subtle beer within the genre. To my mind, this one is drawing too heavily on the East Coast tradition and consequently crushes the finer details of the malts that suffer in the deep shadow of the overly powerful hops. While drinkable, I feel compelled to slap this one on the wrist. In my book, this’d never rank as just a PA. Don’t go overboard, guys, if we wanted this much hops we’d just take a bite right off the bush.

bottle, last one at the local beershop. Great aroma, well balanced. appaerance is a bit unclear and thick, not that good. taste is good, with no showstoppers. a bit too mild or ordinary perhaps, but tastes real good. palate - bubbly and thick. the bubbly part doesn’t fit in. overall a good beer, better than most, but a few faults here and there keeps it from being great. Very happy i found it and had a chance to taste it, as it is extinct by now.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden/orange amber with a big white head. Bitter, crispy hoppy aroma with lots of citrus. Bitter hoppy flavour. Malt in the background. Finish is a lingering bitterness. Faint notes of apple. Slightly oily palate. Not very complex, but nice and pretty decently balanced. 29-04-08.
