beeranarchist (176), Aalborg, Denmark Jul 22, 2007 Bottle (#190). Clear, brown with a lasting beige head. Smokey aroma that reminds me of "ålerøget" salami and it has chocolate and caramel notes too. Flavour is like aroma, but a little more dominated by the smoke. Medium bitterness and appropriate body. Well since there is used 98 % smoked malt I would recommend the brewer to change brand, it needs more smoke aroma and flavour. However the body, colour and balance between bitterness and sweetness are fine.
cellar (331), Dublin, Ireland Jul 11, 2008 hazy brown with tiny white head, smoky notes of malt, sweet in flavour and short smoky finish. I dont mind its retired! KimJohansen (3260), Copenhagen V, Denmark May 4, 2008 Hazy deep amber with medium off white head. Smoky aroma caramel and malty notes. Sweet flavor with notes of caramel, malt and smoke. BeerBiker (1186), Odense, Denmark Jan 4, 2008 [VINTAGE 1,5 YEAR.] Funny to see how this brew changed to an IPA or just Pale ale after cellaring for "long" time. Almost no smoke left, but hazy orange flowers in a very wellbalanced way. Must try the same with refsvindinge skibsøl! goldtwins (3733), Nesconset, New York, USA Nov 6, 2007 Shared by Christian at GABF 2006. Poured a hazy dark brown color with a foamy tan head. Nice smooth smoke over a good roasted malt make up the aroma. The flavor was mostly roasted malt with a pleasant smoke balance. kramer (1874), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2007 500 ml bottle, via Papsoe I believe. Pours a clear (on first pour) amber under a fizzy foamy one finger beige head that left lots of clingy lacing. On the nose there’s a good amount of campfire smoke, but maybe not enough for my tastes. A little bacon, some crackery toasted malt, and a touch of rubber. On the flavor, the smoke is just a little muddled, and there’s an off-putting burnt rubber note on the finish. I’m missing the smoked meat and campfire flavor that I crave from a Smoked. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly fizzy prickly carbonation. That rubber note really lingers on. Overall, a pretty big disappointment, especially for a Smoked beer fan.
