Jeppe (2634), Ølbutikken, Denmark Mar 6, 2007 A good looking beer, black with a foamy well lasting light brown head. Dominating liquorice aroma with a note of menthol in the background that gives associations to cough sweets. Fresh and odd. Lots of liquorice in the flavor as well with a burned note and a warming alcohol sensation that is quite evident. Menthol again, some herbs and a dry roasted finish. Sharp and biding on the tongue. Interesting and different with a style of its own. Thanks a bunch Christian!

Very dominated by raffinated sugar - Too odd i spicing and yeast notes. Needs something mouthfilling to balance plovmand (370), Helsinge, Denmark Jan 31, 2008 Pours black with medium brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, chocolate and smoke. Looks and smells like a well made porter. More gentle in the flavor but still very powerfull with notes of roasted malts, dark fruits, smoke and chocolate.

Smells of dark malts and with a tiny hint of alcohol. Sweet with some bitterness. Aromas of caramel and dried dark fruit esters. Some alcohol notes. Also tiny liquirish hints. Full bodied. Low carbonation. Crispy dry finish with the raisins lingering. Good stuff... "Traditional Ale" - really? MPA (423), Nørrebro(formerly Aalborg), Denmark Dec 7, 2007 Bottle. Black with a nice brownish head. Nice subtle aroma of coffee along with sweet notes of raisins, figs, dates, abricots and caramel. Flavour of licorice, coffee and roasted malts. Lots of roasted malts actually. Some caramel/syrup sweetness as well and a burnt bitter finish with some smokiness added. A very interesting mixture of dark belgian ale and stout flavours, which turn out as a good beer.
