BeerBiker (1209), Odense, Denmark Jan 18, 2008 Updated: Feb 12, 2008Beerrating #1000.[2 bottles proudly received from my bloodfriend Lars Erik and hopefully shared with another Nyborg-fellow Finn Planøkonom next month.] Had asked and searched for this beer for some time and although I’m from Copenhagen I decided this beer to be #1000 as a reward for the efforts brought into the finding of this beer. A seldom style for Denmark (only 23 beers with +10 ratings) and therefore it deserves more attention. Go to Germany and you’ll find a lot of beers with similar flavour and aroma - most of them called Maibock - and indeed many of us enjoy this style (according to the av.notes around 3.0). Clear golden yellow look with a nice white head with an aroma of straws and weak hops, but also some sweetness. Clean flavour and good medium-fullbodied mouthfell with further notes of some hints of spices (pepper?), caramel, hay, soft bitterness and it all ends up in a dry finish, which all was very good to the spicy food. A good beer, maybe not the one with the highest notes, but one with some history....and good ole people from Nyborg get wet eyes when they talk about the Carlsminde Borgerbryg. (See commercial description!) Papsoe (10580), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 13, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Clear, golden with a white head. Sweetish, malty nose. Medium body rich in sweet, clean, pilsener malts. Dry, lightly hoppy finish. Very clean and smooth. 281207 Maria (4461), Thisted, Denmark Jul 19, 2008 The color is beautiful, warm golden, and there is practically no head. The aroma has notes of straw, grass, citrus and a touch of malt. The flavour has a slightly dry bitterness, notes of grass, straw and a nice malty base. Sadly the alcohol is a clear note in this otherwise nice beer. gunnfryd (2743), Kristiansand, Norway May 11, 2008 Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, alcohol. Flavour is sweet malt, alcohol, hop. Medium body. Too much alcohol flavour. tendencies to be unharmonic. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 31, 2007 Bottle.
