motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Jan 29, 2008 on tap at the christmas beer festival in prague. apparently brewed with an ale yeast which i guess is why they call it imperial stout. thick and hazy brown, aroma of vanilla, chocolate and cherry, a bit rough around the edges - faint sourness, unfermented grain
bulletrain76 (492), Santa Cruz, California, USA Dec 21, 2007 Draught at Prague x-mas beer festival. Brown with a big but thin tan head. Aroma of sweet nectar, roasted malt, and wheaty - yeasty tartness. Sweet flavor with wheat characteristics, hint of banana, slight tartness, some roast. Overall tastes squarely like a dunkelweizen to me. The strength was only 14 degrees, I think around 5.6% abv, so I would hardly consider this an imperial stout by any measure. Quack-Duck (1609), Bodensee, Germany Dec 16, 2007 draught at VPT 2007. Brown colour, cloudy, tiny and quickly diminishing head. Rather light-bodied, but full of flavour: coffee, cocoa powder, bitter chocolate and a hint of smoke.
