Commercial Description:
Only in the heart of the hops region famous for growing Žatec hops and barley, with the use of traditional technology, is it possible to brew this top-quality light lager with a golden color, rich flavor and clean smell with a pronounced hops bitterness, high foaming quality and strong zest. The beer that has been tried and tested by the centuries. Lowered slightly from 12P to 11P recently, with abv listed changing from 5% to 4.8%.

A fabulous Czech beer - actually one of the best pilsners I’ve ever tasted. Full body even for such a beer, and with a lasting, hob-flavoured taste - brilliant.

New ratings from Zatec:
Bottle: Pours lightly pale golden with a small, creamy, white head. Low duration. Aroma is light hay and quite grainy and sweet. Fine mouthfeel, though a bit fizzy. Flavour is softly malty, some soapy character and good dry finish with grassy hops.
7/3/7/3/9 = 2.9

Tap: Better lacing, still rather fizzy, more subdued hoppiness. Better looks, slightly less taste.
7/4/6/3/9 = 2.9

Golden with a small white head. Caramel, toffe and a hint of hops in the aroma. Sweetish caramel malty flavour with some hop flavour and a decent bitter finish. Very fizzy giving a tendency towards the metallic

Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
----------------------------------------------------------------
How: Bottle at at Pivovarsky Klub, Prague
The look: Clear blonde body with a small white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 12° and above is: Well malted body with plenty of biscuits and cereals. Sweetness level is in the light-medium range with some honey flavours and a light caramel presence (3/4 honey, 1/4 caramel). Fruity flavour limited to a light citrus flavour. Medium carbonation. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with a light citric touch. After-taste of dry grassy/herbal hops with a light dry spiciness character.
This one: As above but thinner and overall lack of intensity. Non-offensive and highly drinkable but below average bland Světlý.

Keg @ Microbar, november 07. Clear, shinny golden/ orange color and a small white head. Bittersweet, gentle flavor with an interesting acidic tang at the end with some crystal malts notes. Nice. Medium mouthfeel, some citrusy/ flowery hops coating with the malt just keeping them at bay. Nice, flowers, caramel on the nose with some suplhurous notes that takes away from it. Nice, citric, fresh pils.

Bottle, 4.8%. A golden beer with a thin white head. Both the aroma and flavor are sweet with notes of straw and malt.
