fonefan (4850), Ulfborg, Denmark Mar 13, 2008 Bottle. Light hazy orange color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, spicy, moderate yeasty, sulphur. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration. (A bit like prune stew). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, to much carbonation. (250208)
maeib (3997), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Oct 1, 2008 Bottled. Another gusher. A muddy light amber coloured beer with a whitish head. Woah, this is spicy. Coriandered to within an inch of its life. The verb ’to coriander’ was invented especially for this beer. It’s yeasty and overcarbonated and a bit of a car crash. Goodness gracious me. Murky-hazy brown color, steady small off-white head. Cardamom and cinnamon in the sweetish nose - like a cinnamon bun. Crisp, lively beer with strong carbonation. Hoppy and spicey (cinnamon and cardamom also here) flavor, also some honey-sweetish notes. Appareantly too much yeast. sayravai (3181), Helsinki, Finland Jul 9, 2008 (Bottled) Opaque amber with a medium, slightly lemonadey head. Tripel-like aroma with honeyish malt, yeast, cardamom, orange-peel, coriander, and grassy hops. Very grainy-malty, sweetish flavor with berries and some grassy hops, reminds me of Stille Nacht. Medium to full-bodied with somewhat high carbonation. Feels stronger than it is, yet not alcoholic at all. A pleasant, quite complex and daring Tripel-Barley Wine hybrid. thebeertourist (1879), Oslo, Norway May 21, 2008 Bottle. The cloudy, ruddy-brown beer is eager to leave the bottle, and the head starts creamy, but turns into a small film. Interesting sourly fruit aroma with spices and flowers. Oranges and bitter almonds. Flavours are actually quite bitter, probably from the spices, but underneath lurks sour fruit, mostly oranges. The spices give a floral touch. Medium to full body. Complex ang highly recommended.
