GABF 2009. Light color *& bitterness. Nice sessionable APA but if your looking for a nice hoppy APA, look elsewhere

A wonderful pale ale. Bitter hop taste intially melts into a smooth maltiness. Almost like an IPA but without a distinct character.

Draft @ JCs Bar & Grill, Bend, OR. Pours a pale golden color with a small white head. Has a malty floral hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy flavor. Has a slightly sweetish malty hoppy finish with some hints of caramel.

On tap at Wildfire’s bar in Bend, OR--Poured a medium amber-copper body. Sharp hoppiness for a pale ale. Well constructed, nicely balanced and super easy drinking. Nothing to write home about, but a nice example of an Oregon pale from a town that hales Mirror Pond.

From the tap pours amber with a small white head. Pretty good hop bite, but not a lot of floral hop aromatics. Soft caramel flavors up front, balanced well. Felt a bit watery, more of a session pale.

Amber orange colored. Aroma is grapefruit, some citrus, some caramel backing. Medium to light bodied, moderate to light bitterness. Not that bad, but nothing special either.

Visited Bend, Oregon and found this on tap at several locations. I had it at Red Dog Depot in Redmond. Wildfire is a new microbrewer in the area. See www.myspace.com/wildfirebrewingcompany for further info. Pours cloudy honey-colored with little head, weak hoppy aroma, some carbonation, dry finish that is not terribly bitter. A nice balanced APA, but a bit bland.
