My two favorite beers produced by Genesee are the Cream Ale and the 12 Horse Ale. Alas the 12 Horse Ale is no more. Pours a clear gold with a foamy white head. Light but pleasant aroma of hops with a hint of malt. Slightly sweet with more malt than in the aroma with a light hoppy finish.

A good beer that never found a niche. Unfairly instantly pigeonholed as your grandfather’s beer. Genny should have just left it alone and they’d still be making it. Instead they changed the label and tried to force it on an unreceptive demographic. I drank it then and I still would today.

this tasted like red apples thrown in some malt liquor. weird. but cool... that classic woody- corn-y syrup-y oil-y ML flavor but with apples. i predict shag would like this

So this is at least one year old. Thats not a good sign. Pour is a clear yellow with a tint of orange. Aroma comes off as cheap and full of corn. Smells cheap kind of like bad grape juice. Flavor comes off pretty similar. Swill, but easy going swill. There isnt the bad beer flavor, it just lacks the real beer flavor.

Retired or not i found this beast at the store the other day. The name alone deserves to be on a four ouncer not a 12ver. Very weird beer as it had little taste at all, just some apples and virtually no aftertaste. The beer is weak, but the name is awesome.

Medium gold-amber hue with a medium sized, white, frothy head. Cherries, apples, pears and hay in the aroma. Flavor is much the same. Moderately sweet flavor. Lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation.

Had one of these a january 2004 and really wasn’t all that impressed. Color and appearance wasn’t all that bad, fizzy and yellow like most beers that aren’t that great. Smells like malts and apples. Taste is also malts and apples, somewhat bitter, and a little acidic tasting. Not a good beer by any means.

One of the best from Genny. They pulled it out of retirement once maybe it will happen again. Solid hoppy taste and aroma.
