judasbeer (228), Budapest, Hungary Oct 24, 2009 Draught at the pub. Just has a little bit darker color than the amber one. The carbonation looks very lively with small, fast bubbles.
Buttery, toasted malty aroma. Light to medium bodied with fruity mouthfeel and dry hoppy/roasted ending. MartinT (5026), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 8, 2009 Updated: Jan 18, 2009My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts and chestnuts ride a toffee wave until a pleasant hop spiciness lathers the last half of this interesting Dunkel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the clear russet.
-The end result is very drinkable and different from other Vienna Dunkels.
-A little diacetyl is perceived in the nose.
-This is well balanced throughout.
On tap at the brewpub. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Dec 30, 2008 Draught at the brewpub.
Pale brown coloured, small off-white head, light roasted and buttery nose. Mild chocolate, molasses and fruity taste with pleasant woody notes. Weak in hops, but fairly malty. Good dunkel. MiP (8792), Sønderborg, Denmark Nov 21, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Hazy dark red brown colour. The flavour is OK roasted, woody bitterness (if that makes any sense). Gets a bit sour towards the finish, cannot tell if it is an infection or the ’wood’. omhper (12147), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 20, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Nut brown, creamy head. Roasty buttery malt aroma. Fairly sweet with gentrly rounded mouthfeel. Carefully roasty buttery malt passes by edgeless and pleasant. Traditional Austrian low bitterness opens up for some molasses in the finish. Theis (3617), Denmark Jul 16, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Clear mahogany red/brown - offwhite head. Chocolate, coffee, abricot, piney, resin, caramel, residual sugar, nice medium hoppy - but a bit too high for a dunkel, high malty. High bitterness. lovely !!! thewolf (5621), Kolding, Denmark Jul 14, 2008 Tap @ 1516 Brewing Company, Vienna.
Pours dark amber with a small, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has sweet rye bread and subdued caramel. Fine, light mouthfeel. The flavour is much less sweet than the aroma, lightly roasted with a fine, clear hops character. Some rye bread. Ends off with sweet caramel and good hoppiness. Nice one.
