Mild and easy drinking, soft and light-medium bodied. Finishes with low bitterness. Typical Viennese style helles, and arguably the most well made beer at 1516, although also the least experimental. Some pleasant crispy malt aroma and flavor, with a bit rounder body, and correct to powerful bitterness make of this a better beer than the Saphir Pils. Pleasant. TBone (6868), Pori, Finland

Slightly hazy pale yellow color, small white head. Light citric nose. Citric Hallertau-type hops in the flavor. Decent helles. thewolf (5838), Kolding, Denmark

Pours a pale, greenish, golden with a small, creamy, white head. Good lacing. Aroma has light butterscotch and some doughy malts. Weak hoppiness, flowery and grassy. Okay mouthfeel. Flavour is nicely hoppy, grainy and a bit of butter. Frankly better than its current ratings. Rastacouere (5565), Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Comments: Simple again, effervescent and rather crisp helles with a certain mineral backbone and a lean dry palate.

Dry, reasonably hoppy crisp lagerbeer with a biscuity malt giving a lasting flavour. The 1516 brewery is a classic Vienese brewpub with good food and plenty of conversation. motelpogo (4399), Plzen, Czech Republic
