JK (2411), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Mar 27, 2006 A strange beer. This is a cross between a Belgian strong ale and a spiced beer. There is an aroma of coriander and other spice, as well as light yeast. Yellow like a Belgian blond, but no sediment. Flavor is a mixture of yeast and wheat, as well as several spices; though I can’t remember what all of them were. The spices are so prominent I would call this a spiced beer rather than a Belgian strong. I didn’t care for it much at first, but I think I see what they were trying to do and it is a good attempt at something different.
Geiserich (1536), Vienna, Austria Jan 29, 2006 Draught at the pub
Aroma is sourly with an intensive anis note. Pale yellow, milky hazy color. Small head.Intensiv herbal flavor with intensive coriander notes, too. Medical, light notes of lemon and grapefruit. Quite similar to a herb schnaps. Very interesting, unusual beer, maybe a bit to unusual.
