BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Mar 16, 2008 Updated: Jan 29, 2009Bottle thanks to Ty5592. Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a moderate white head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of tart citrus and wheat. Dominant sour flavor with hints of citrus fruit and light wheat flavors on the finish. Pretty simple flavor profile, but it is refreshing. Easy to drink and crisp on the palate. Very nice beer that makes me proud of my German heritage. Thanks Ty, you are the man. dkachur (2318), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Mar 14, 2008 Bottle at Ludwig’s Schnitzelhouse and Restaurant, Charlottesville. Pours a cloudy straw gold color with a very large head. Aroma is a bit weak, but the lactic sourness comes through. The taste is the same. This has a nice wheat/sour taste. The sourness is not overpowering, and balances nicely. Dogbrick (2816), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 14, 2008 Bottle from Winking Lizard. Served with a cup of raspberry syrup which I declined. Pours a somewhat hazy yellow-gold color with a medium thin bone white head that diminishes slowly. Patches of lacing on the glass. Tart fruit, doughy malt and spices in the nose. Light-bodied and clean with a tart citrus and raspberry character. Mild spices and grainy malt flavors as well. The finish is fruity with a lingering tartness afterward. Overall this is pretty interesting. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Mar 13, 2008 Very pale yellow, hazy with a thick white head. One of the lightest beers I’ve seen. Head disappears quickly. Grainy aroma with some sweet fruit - berries. Dry lemony start, like lemonade with no sugar. Bitter finish with some grainy aftertaste. Not bad. LiebeBier (788), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Mar 11, 2008 Bottle - Suspect a spoiled sample. Yelolow color with no head retention. Tart sweet aroma. Fruity tart flavor with a hint of lemon. This style is sometimes mixed with a syrup. I’d suggest doing that if this is how it tastes.. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Mar 3, 2008 Pale yellow with a hazy look. Nice mid-sized frothy head. Aroma is sour and lemony citrus with a barny noe. Flavour was also sour with a weaty and yeasty flavour. Tart and dry. grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Mar 1, 2008 Hazy lemony yellow, witbierish appearance. Grainy aroma, wet dog, leaves, lightly tart fruit (gummy bears). Empty grainy flavor, tart, undersweetened. Surprisingly transparent flavor, very clean, no aftertaste whatsoever, no yeast development. Almost imperceptible bitterness, very sharp carbo. Dry lemonade, uninteresting. Davinci (295), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 29, 2008 A very refreshing lemony beer. Remarkably refreshing and easy to drink. This may be my summer beer of choice this year. I really hope that this style starts becoming more popular as it is a wonderful change of pace to many of the other classical german brews.
