BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 5, 2008 [bottle] Grainy, lactic aroma... very intriguing. Pale yellow color, hazy, with a very nice off-white head. Excellent head retention. Lactic acid dominates the flavors up front, with some more grainy wheat and lemony tartness. Very clean, dry finish. Powerful carbonation. Really quite awesome overall-- super drinkable, this would be a beer I could drink all summer long. yobdoog (1420), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Feb 3, 2008 Aroma is some funk or barrel with a nice crisp tart sourness. Taste seems to have a bit more alcohol than it states. Still very good clean crisp taste with a very nice tartness. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 2, 2008 Hazy yellow orange pour with a fizzy short lasting white head. Aroma of lights fruits, yeast, light sour elements, and a bit of pale malt. Flavor was of crisp green apple skin...tart and lightly fruity and sour with musty yeast and pale malt evening out the equation. Fairly light body yet heavy in flavor and texture...sort of creamy yet carbonated well...malty and fruity in the front with a tart/fruity/sour...and almost hearty finish. Really neat stuff. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 30, 2008 This is exceptionally interesting. I haven’t been surprised by a beer this color in a long time. The premise of using very old original recipes and processes produces a brew that SEEMS authentic for its tartness - its very geuzy appeal. This also dominates the beer in a way I’ve never tasted a Weisse get dominated. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jan 19, 2008 hazy, yellow body with no head..slightly cloudy pour..citrus in the nose with hints of bread, dough, touches of spice, banana, and nutmeg..flavor of dust, sour must, green apple, bile (non-offensive if thats possible)--and upon reading the label this is clearly the lactic acid aspect of it--soft palate, cask-like...overall nicely done kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Jan 16, 2008 Cloudy pale golden color with a frothy white head. Aroma is full of pale grains, wheat and citric tartness, straw, lemon and grassy notes. Flavor is sour, moderately acidic, freshly-squeezed lemons, lime and wheat grains. Small bodied, sticky texture. Long tart finish. metsbcd (82), Connecticut, USA Jan 14, 2008 I ordered this at a restaurant that specializes in German and Belgian beers, and they did something that I found odd. They poured some syrup (raspberry I think) in the bottom before pouring in the beer. They then mixed it up with a spoon. Odd but tasty. It made for an intense fruit explosion. Too sweet to have more than one, but tasty nonetheless. The beer was also fairly light. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 13, 2008 I thought this was a fantastic representation of the style. Much better than others I have tried. An interesting blend of tartness and sour, but extremely well balanced malt background. I wish it could have had a little more sourness, but very refreshing.
