| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 11, 2007 This beer pours a cloudy orange, it almost looks like a grapefruit juice considering it has that nice citric and bitter aroma to it. The head foams up really nice and as fast as it foams up it fades to nothing. The initial taste is very salty and tangy but that fades as quick as the beer goes down your throat. the after taste on the palate is very smooth and toffee like with mild hints of melon. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Pours a very cloudy straw colour with a fizzy head that disipates as quick as soda-pop. The aroma is typically salty with muted hints of barnyard funk from the yeast. A good amount of acidity is felt through the nose. The flavour is mildly tart, salty and acidic with flavours of wheat, citrus, horseblanket, some banana/melon. The palate duration is extremely short and the body is watery with soft messaging carbonation. badgerben (3592), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 9, 2007 Nearly clear yellow color with a thick head. A tart and lemony aroma as well as some wheat. Slight tartness and dry malt up front, followed on by wheat, lemon and banana. Not overly tart or sour, but just enough to freshen it up a bit. Lovely. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 9, 2007 1st half of the bottle w/o the lees. Pours a slightly hazed, bright pale yellow color w/ a full yet short lived spritzy froth that reduces to a full, sliky canopy. Aromas of banana cream. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Tastes like a tart hefe weissen. Good banana spice w/ a defined tartness. The tart component stabs quick and deep yet is very enjoyable as it recedes softly to a murmur. The finsh is long w/ a lingerng tart tingling. Highly recommended. 2nd half with the lees in the glass. Pours an opaque tawny yellow color with tart aromas. The flavor profile is less enjoyable to me this way as it becomes the full fledged tart/sour style it was meant to be. At this point all the wheat flavors are gone left with nothing but sour citric acid. I really do enjoy the pour w/o the lees far better and I would drink it again that way. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 6, 2007 My experience with Berliner Weisse is very limited, but the few I’ve had have been overwhelmingly tart with the flavor around the edges, if that makes any sense. Still good of course, but tart more than anything. This one, however, was extremely flavorful - it smelled mildly like toast and lemon, and the flavor was a mix of some citrus notes, some herbal, savory notes, some hints of sourdough bread and just a touch of bitterness, mixed with an understated but persistant tartness. Awesome stuff, I wish I had a case or two of it. Thanks to ross for the trade! NicerInPerson (337), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 5, 2007 The aroma was citric and lactic tartness with a strong estery fruit presence. Soft wheat characteristics broke through the ever present head and a bit of malt character. The beer was lightly hazy pale golden with a head that fell in a moderate fashion, but bubbles that kept on giving off CO2. The flavor was mild and tart with wheat and a bit of caramel. The flavor had a strong citric flavor which was quite refreshing in it’s orange characteristic. The body was medium and a bit big for a Berliner Weiss. The carbonation was moderately high and the beer had a creaminess through the tart flavor on the palate. The finish was dry with lasting tart orange citrus flavors into the aftertaste and beyond. Overall a darn nice beer, but a little different than other BW out there. 16.9 ounce bottle. Beerlando (2312), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Crystal clear, pale, champagne color. Intense carbonation lends further credence to the sparkling wine resemblance. A large, fizzy, pure white head settles quickly to a tiny rim. Zero lacing noted. The aroma is lightly sweet and fruity. I picked up faint peaches, tangerines, and some musty yeast on the nose. The flavor is very light, crisp, and tart. Peaches, lemons, and light grapefruit dance on the tongue, mixing incredibly well with the light, fizzy palate. This beer is crisp from start to finish, ending quick and clean. Very refreshing summertime beer. Perfect for the beach. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA
