Sep 23, 2007 Pours a mildly hazy pale yellow with a frothy two finger head that fades quickly to a thin cap. The lacing is a bit thin, leaving just a few rings behind. A little later the foam almost fades completely away.
Smell; this has a wheat malt dominated aroma at first, but as this warms up a bit some lemons, tart apples and a slightly musty aroma come out.
Taste; the wheat flavor is not quite as strong as i was expecting after the nose, but there’s still enough to let you know that this is still a wheat beer. A mild mustiness come through in the middle followed by tart lemons and a bit of honey. Not quite as tart as I was expecting for a Berliner weiss, but still pretty darn good.
Mothfeel is light to medium bodied with a light carbonation that helps make this a refreshing warm weather beer.

Sep 21, 2007 Gorgeous pour...opaque apricot color with a bursting, soapy head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is light and is mostly sour citrus with hints of wheat. Flavor is very different than anything else I’ve ever had. At first, I wasn’t particularly impressed, but after each sip, became more and more of a believer. Very dry like many white wines as the dryness emerges very late. Drink is hiighly acidic with strong flavors of sour citrus, this beer keeps you coming back for more. Definitely a fan of this style beer; will look to find another Berliner for comparison in the future!

Sep 20, 2007 The pour reveals a cloudy golden color with a thick white head that diminishes to a thin one. The aroma is very sharp and promises a refreshing flavor, there’s sourness, bananas, maybe citrus, cloves and bubble-gummy yeast. In the mouth, there’s a highly refreshing sour flavor with fruits, cloves and bubble-gummy yeast. The body is light to medium with an oily texture and medium to lively carbonation. Hmmm, too bad this style is hard to find, especially in North-America, I really like berliner=weisses and this one is very good.

Sep 18, 2007 Very dense white head, as whipped eggwhite, but not very lasting; verdigris-yellow beer. Fresh lemony-acidic nose, but with obvious (summer)grain as underbuild; slightly lactic ending. Again first lemony/citrussy, but with a backing as from a very fine, light consommé , stock-ish. Celeri, some grain; ending quite tart. Extremely refreshing, very titillating MF. A good Berliner Weisse is always a treat. But historic or not; believe it or not; I prefer the Schultheiss. Thanks, Seb!

Sep 17, 2007 Bottle. Pours a murky pale yellow with a white head; it looks like cider. Big wheat aromas with a lactic note. Powerfully lactic and sour. Prominent wheat flavors, lemongrass and a banana note I’d assume is from the yeast but the lactic notes really have a stranglehold on the flavors. Surprisingly drinkable- the first Berliner Weisse I’ve been able to finish (not sure if that bodes well for the beer though).

Sep 17, 2007 Murky, yeasty yellow-orange body with strong carbonation emanating from the yeast sediment at the bottom of the glass. Thick, quickly dissipating off-white head. Aroma of tangy wheat, banana- crackery, with a dry, almost medicinal chalkiness. Sour, tangy body, lactic, with a light lemony fruitiness. Earthy and estery. Not much depth; the initial flavors simply fade away on the palate. Interesting, unique beer.

Sep 17, 2007 Bottle from Keg Liqour. Poured hazy yellow color with a large frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate wheat sour fruit aroma. Light to medium body. Light sour fruit flavor with a light sour finish of moderate duration. Interesting, not my style.

Bottle at LCRBM3. Stunned at how well rated this is. Didn’t even come close to working for me. Pale as hell, looks almost like a perry. Flavour totally dominated by vinegar. Barely detectable sweetness underneath. No balance and no character. Guess I need to re-rate this if I ever see it again.
