Papsoe (10359), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 1, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Very hazy pale golden with a dense, white head. Tart, youghurt-like aroma. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel. Piquant, tart and lightly wheaty accents with a whiff of yeast and citrus. Vague acidity in the finish also. Interesting, less challenging but more quaffable than your normal Berliner Weisse. 270408 Oakes (6977), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 3, 2008 Cloudy, almost greyish-beige colour, like pear nectar. This is after a big head had frothed up and whittle slowly down in what had to be the most impressive audible show I’ve ever experienced in a beer. The aroma shows just a miniscule amount of that lactic, lemony character of the style and a lot more of footy yeastiness. Flavour is suitably tart, however the footiness doesn’t do it any favours, but the kiss of malt in the middle does. The malts then fade away to a puckering, limey finish.
Two things: 1) It looks like ass but I give a bonus point for the audio. 2) Sourness is right but not much else is. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Apr 28, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow with fully diminished white head. Light orange fruity and light citric note. Light yeasty aroma and also into the flavour. Light citric flavour mixed with a mild yeasty note. Ends yeasty and citric. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 28, 2008 Bottle.
Hazy yellow coloured with a small white ehad.
Light acidic aroma of fruits with notes of lactic acid.
Light acidic flavour of fruits and yeast with notes of citrus.
Citric finish. argo0 (6230), Washington DC, USA Jul 1, 2007 (50cl bottle) Lightly hazed straw body topped by large white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, lemon, orange peel, some sourness, light wheat, yeast. Taste is medium sweet, lemon, moderately tart, light wheat. Light-medium body, some crispness. Fairly sweet for the style -- no real complaints about it, just that it seems like a cross between a Berliner and a Hefe. Ridiculously easy to drink for a Berliner.
