Pours a cloudy straw gold color with a very large head. Aroma is a bit weak, but the lactic sourness comes through. The taste is the same. This has a nice wheat/sour taste. The sourness is not overpowering, and balances nicely. Boutip (2363), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2007 Bottle courtesy of jjpm74: Poured a cloudy and hazy deep yellow color ale with some white hue also noticeable and a huge pure white bubbly head with some good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of wheat malt with some sour notes. Taste consisted of wheat malt with some medium sour notes without much acidity. Full body with some good carbonation. Very well done, easily drinkable and I am just glad somebody tries to brew this though to get style. eaglefan538 (2363), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Updated: Aug 10, 2008A real treat, a super refreshing take on a hefeweizen, much more drinkable than the few Berliners I’ve had (either too fruity or in the case of Kindl, too puckering from what I remember?), unless my buds have just evolved. Poured a like a hefe, huge large head, cloudiness from the yeast swirl, yet more cloudy / murky than flat out sedimenty. The head was pillowy, great lacing. The aroma was much like a hefe, some tart lemons around more than the normal citrus plays of a hefe. Cloves detectable and very light bananas noticeable. Flavor followed, nice tart/bret accent to this whole thing, played quite welll alongside the clove spicing of the base beer. Mouthfeel was full bodied, yet light and clean after the swallow, the citrus/acidity preventing the sweeter malts from sticking around much. Glad to have picked this one up, a great match for the warmest day in the area in months. Maybe I can do a horizontal now with the single other Berliner I can get and haven’t had for a couple of years, Kindl (yup, I’ve got lots of Berliner Wiesse depth, eh?). Re-rate, 8/08, in a horizontal against Kindl, Bahnhof, and DFH Peche. This one took the blue as expected. Original review stands, definitely elements of both hefe and Berliner Weisse, an overall great drinker. Numbers remain unchanged. Beerlando (2327), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2007 Crystal clear, pale, champagne color. Intense carbonation lends further credence to the sparkling wine resemblance. A large, fizzy, pure white head settles quickly to a tiny rim. Zero lacing noted. The aroma is lightly sweet and fruity. I picked up faint peaches, tangerines, and some musty yeast on the nose. The flavor is very light, crisp, and tart. Peaches, lemons, and light grapefruit dance on the tongue, mixing incredibly well with the light, fizzy palate. This beer is crisp from start to finish, ending quick and clean. Very refreshing summertime beer. Perfect for the beach. drewbeerme (2282), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2007 6/28/2007: 1809 Berliner Weisse pours a hazy, pale yellow color. It has a large, fluffy and rocky white head that lasts and lasts... The aroma is sour and acidic and contains a noticeable amount of wheat and yeast. The flavor is also yeasty, acidic, wheaty, and slightly sour. The flavor is well-balanced and controlled. This medium-light beer is smooth and refreshing. 1809 is a good representation of a Berliner Style Weisse beer. This is only the second Berliner Weisse beer that i have had. I have enjoyed them both and would like to see more brewers offer beers of this style...
500 mL bottle (5.0 Alc./Vol.) at Winking Lizard Tavern (Crosswoods) in Columbus, Ohio. Rating #79 for this beer... alexanderj (2252), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 2, 2009 On tap at Beachwood a few weeks back. Color was a dull, hazy gold. Aroma was tart/sour, bready, and wheaty. Perhaps some lemon, vanilla and pepper. Flavor was much of the same. This is one style of beer I have never particularly liked and just don’t get it really. Solid, but not great. Kinz (2205), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 22, 2007 Clear yellow, white head fades fast, big bubbles. Honestly resembles Bud, I can’t help it. Aroma light, a bit of grain, faint funk, and dust, interesting. Sour fruity apple flavor over a wheat base. Refreshing, gentle bacterial funk. Very refreshing, a bit of lemon on the finish. Like a less agressive lambic. Nice.
