Aroma seems minimal, but clear sweet wheat, lemon and an acid woody note, hints of spice also, peachy as it warms. Taste is initally sour, lemon and acid, all good, once swallowe a sweet biscuity honey note comes up, the finish is peachy honey with a pluckering from the carbonation an dry lemon. An intresting experiance that iv very glad iv had, though not what i expect from a berliner wieisse. hopscotch (5545), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2007 Bottle… RBSG 07… Murky, straw-colored ale with no real head. The nose is of lemon oil, orange peel and green banana with undercurrents of white pepper and white bread. Tart flavor with nowhere near the acidity of the Fitgers Champagne of the North, which I tried earlier in the evening. There is plenty of rich pale and wheat malt and fruity esters to dumb down the pungency, while never overriding or disgracing the beer’s acidic nature. Medium to full-bodied with a lightly creamy, then astringent mouthfeel and lively carbonation. As if threatened and attempting to defend it’s honor, the acidity fights back to provide a lengthy, crisp, sharp-tasting finish. Kudos to SoLan for bringing this fine brew from way down in Florida! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2007 Pours an effervescent bright golden with an airy, spotty-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of lightly sweet wheat, some grass and a hint of tart lemon and earthy citrus along with a touch of funk. Body starts fairly full for the style, semi-sweet and sticky with a nicely balanced fresh lemongrass tang. Finishes semi-dry and tart with mild bitterness and clove. A very nice Berliner Weisse. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Very dense white head, as whipped eggwhite, but not very lasting; verdigris-yellow beer. Fresh lemony-acidic nose, but with obvious (summer)grain as underbuild; slightly lactic ending. Again first lemony/citrussy, but with a backing as from a very fine, light consommé , stock-ish. Celeri, some grain; ending quite tart. Extremely refreshing, very titillating MF. A good Berliner Weisse is always a treat. But historic or not; believe it or not; I prefer the Schultheiss. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2007 Bottled, 500ml, Bottle conditioned, courtesy of Der Doppelbock (Sebastian). Cloudy gold with short lasting head. High in lactic acid flavours, it is sharp, lemony and tangy with a lingering sourness. Soft fruit and acidic apples also noted in the flavour a challenging and interesting beer. Good stuff. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 27, 2007 My Bottom Line:
This complex Berliner Weisse quenches with its osmosis of citrusy tartness, milky bananas and wheaty haystacks. This is a smashing example of a too obscure style.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the cloudy whitish blond.
-The body is quite nourishing for such a drinkable product.
-Effervescence is lively but comfortable.
-Citrusy tartness is not that of a mouthpuckering lambic, but is present enough to make this even more drinkable.
-Spicy phenols are found in the nose.

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 18, 2007 Pours a cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Smells lactic and sour with some citrussy elements and hints of biscuits. Taste is moderately sour with tart lemony qualities being the dominant in this beer. Very well done interpretation of this rare style. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 4, 2007 500 ml bottle courtesy of beastiefan2k. Very cloudy pale yellow beer with a fast fading white head. Spritzy carbonation. Aroma is quite estery and sweet up front with banana and apricot character. Soft wheaty tartness and loads of wheat flavour. Soft tartness initially that strangely accents the malt sweetness. Very creamy body with citruc tartness over the wheaty flavour. Light banana fruitiness that intensifies a bit as the temperature comes up. A hint of clove as well. The tartness also seems to get dialled up a bit as the beer warms. Nice brew.
