Taste is quite sour, but doesn’t seem to mesh very well with the wheat and banana flavors. Medium-thin mouthfeel with a somewhat short finish. This is the first Berliner Weisse that I have tried, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I have to say that I was fairly underwhelmed by it. BlackForestCO (828), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Poured a slightly hazy golden color with a moderate white head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of tart citrus and wheat. Dominant sour flavor with hints of citrus fruit and light wheat flavors on the finish. Pretty simple flavor profile, but it is refreshing. Easy to drink and crisp on the palate. Very nice beer that makes me proud of my German heritage. Thanks Ty, you are the man. BeerVirgin72 (814), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 18, 2008 Poured a hazy shade of gold with a bright foamy white head...Very lively carbonation remiscent of champaigne! Aroma was bananna and lemons. Flavor was inital sweet fruit, followed by tart sour finish. Very much lemon tartness. My first reaction was YUCK. But I stayed with it and it grew on me. I imagine this would be a good beer to start with if you want to work up to the sours. Very different. beachbum25 (802), Powellville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2007 500 Ml Bottle-Trade w/DragonStout. Pours a cloudy yellow color w/a large, quickly diminishing white foamy head & a lot of carbonation. Light sweet white grape aroma. Dry crisp flavor of white grapes w/traces of spice & a light malt flavor. Somewhat like a Hefe, but very tart & winelike, very crisp. This is quite good, very different, a good before/after dinner beer. Nice change of pace summer brew; I wouldn’t drink it all the time. Long tart finish. xmarcnolanx (800), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Pours with a white fluffy head. Aroma is of clove, sour fruit, and a little banana. There is a medicinal quality to this beer, as smhncabot pointed out, but it is not offensive. Rather, it accentuates the cleanliness of the beer in the malting and the sourness and lends some small structure to the beer. Overall, a very quaffable beer. Very good for what it is, but still nothing I would go out of my way for necessarily-unless it was summer and I was very hot. tarheels86 (799), Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2009 500 mL. pours a cloudy yellow with a two finger bright white head. Aromas of white grapes, green apples. lemon zest. Taste is like a very sour and tart hefeweizen. Very similar to chardonnay every step of the drink- ends tart and dry. Long, astringent aftertaste. I do really like this. A cross between a hefeweizen and a lambic. Very interesting. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 25, 2008 Pours a hazy golden with a rather large head that recedes quickly. Aroma is lemon and wheat, sour and tart. Taking a taste, yup sour and tart. Interesting, good, but not what I look for in a beer. joshwilfong (794), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 27, 2008 golden with quickly disappering head. slight spicy and definitely sour nose. thick mouthfeel. flavor is greatly unique with an initial fruity ester flavor from the yeast with a very refreshing tartness from the lactobacillus. a beer that was perfectly fermented, benefitting from proper yeast manipulation to balance the lactic acid. a great brew, from an under-appreciated style.
