Tons and tons of carbonation in this classic style. Aroma of lemons, citrus, and very tart candy. Taste is zesty and sour with a wheaty malt mouthfeel. This brew was a wonderful suprise. And i would like to try more of the berliner weisse style. coldbrewky (730), Saugerties, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 6, 2008 .5 L from the local rip and run. Average pour yeilds effervessant and lively rolling white head that dissipates quickly. Pours a hazy honey yellow. A bit murky in the glass. No lacing. Citrusy nose. Bitter and acidic on tounge. Corriander and cloves along with some whispy orange peel fade into a hint of cherries on this average length of mouth. I was impressed with the commercial desription and the no wort boil bit. None too shabby. Nice on this hot day. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 18/20 | Jul 3, 2007 500ml. Pours a very cloudy, very pale yellow color with a carbonated white head that doesn’t stick around. Aroma is pleasant Hefeweizen smell - cloves, yeast, wheat, banana, vanilla with an added dimension of lemony tartness. Taste is similar. Wheat beer with just a subtle kick of tartness. Not overpowering or offensive at all as some tart or sour beers can be. This was good stuff. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 5, 2008 [bottle] Grainy, lactic aroma... very intriguing. Pale yellow color, hazy, with a very nice off-white head. Excellent head retention. Lactic acid dominates the flavors up front, with some more grainy wheat and lemony tartness. Very clean, dry finish. Powerful carbonation. Really quite awesome overall-- super drinkable, this would be a beer I could drink all summer long. demitriustown (697), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 24, 2008 1 pt .9 fl oz bottle: Aroma is tart, lemony, nice pungent almost sour hop aroma, and green apples. Pours a clear golden color with really nice lacing bubbling up the side of the glass. Taste is nice and sour, citrus, tart, light hop characteristics, awesome taste in my honest opinion. Palate is very carbonated on the lips, and aftertaste has a lingering sweetness and tartness. Overall, This is the prefect style for a hot summer day. My first Beliner I thought it was a sour disgusting mess. Now I love the style. Cheers! Narnad (696), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2009 Pours a crystal clear yellow, very high carbonation and a dense bubbly white head that fades down fairly quickly. Aroma has a very light acidic sourness to it, not as much as I expected, with a green apple/white grape sweetness, light hay note, cheesy and farmhouse scent finish it out. Flavor starts off with a light sweet grape and mild lemon citric acid flavor but quickly moves into a sour, wet straw and farmhouse flavor with a refreshing tartness to the finish. Brew ends with a very dry, tongue puckering/numbing feeling. Density is perfectly light but heavy enough to carry the wide array of flavors for the entire tasting. Beer has a high effervescent feel with its high carbonation. I was expecting something way more soured and acidic for this styling. Overall a very good brew with a very wide range of flavors that fade into one another and work superbly. BigBeer45 (695), Troy, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2008 1 Pint 0.9 oz. Bottle, pours clear pale gold and/or yellow gold with a white head that leaves some lacing, aroma of pilsner malt, pear and apple fruitiness, faint banana wheat aroma, fragrance of old flowers and an aged scent (maybe woody?), yes, this has a sharp sour tartness of grapefruit upon first sip, malt flavor with pears and apples, hints of berry, I noticed a faint strawberry flavor, I did not detect any hops in this drink, bubbly and very dry on the palate, reminded me of how a Belgian Wit feels on the tongue only with more tart and dryness, has a Champagne liveliness in the mouth, I see why this is refered to as a refreshing drink, clean and tart on the palate, could almost pass as a dry white wine, gave me hints of the same, this is a dry wisp of a drink, not as heavy as a white wine, as this beer warms the strength of the tartness tapers off some but is always there.
