Aroma is full of pale grains, wheat and citric tartness, with a background of straw, lemon and some faint grassy notes. Lightly hazy pale golden color with a subsiding, slight head of white. Predominantly lactic and sour flavor profile, moderately acidic and highly refreshing, with suggestions of freshly-squeezed lemons, faint lime and a light wash of wheat grains, yeast character and spiciness. Palate is properly spritzy, dry and quenching with a light body. Rather high in alcohol for the style at 5%, but that fact doesn’t seem to detract whatsoever as it remains supremely quenching. Very nice rendering. Ron (1033), Rochester, New York, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 18, 2007 Cloudy light straw color with a big bubbled, somewhat fluffy white head that diminishes somewhat quickly in the bowl. Hugh wheat and light banana aromas. A light lactic scent, but not that strong compared to some of the other Berliners. Full wheat sweetness that does not last long with the tartness. Some white grapes and and lemon oil wander about in the middle. Dry tart finish that has some tart cherries and slight return of wheat. Respectable. Wouldn’t mild trying with woodruff or raspberry syrup. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA

Cloudy yellow body under a fluffy white head. Tart acidic aroma - lemon and sugar cookie. The flavor has similar acidic notes over husky pale malt. A solid beer, tart and refreshing. bierkoning (6082), La Tropica, Netherlands

This will get a re-rate soon, because of a trade with Der Doppelbock, but first impressions are these: yoghurt and, surprisingly, some hops in the aroma. Very modestly sour flavor with yoghurt, fresh cheese and traubenzucker. Citrus. Thin, but complex and delicious.
Re-rate: First rating was fairly accurate. Lychee in the somewhat citric aroma. A slight lemony sourness with tropical fruit added. pineapple, lychee, traubenzucker. Good complexity is this delicious and characterful beer, that is way less sour as the Berliner Weisse from Schultheiss or Kindl. aracauna (2391), Georgia, USA

There’s something there reminiscent of a lambic, but mostly, it’s just the hefe fruit. There’s a green apple and lime tartness in the finish of this one. Not full on sourness, though. Almost a hint of mint in the aroma. Right now, it’s nicely balanced with a good wheat backbone. Very cloudy pour. kwoeltje (1325), Manchester, Missouri, USA
