| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Can. Nice amber pour with dense, but thin head. Aroma is fresh grapefruit, fruit rind and papaya. Flavor is also very grapefruity with nice bitterness / fruit rind in the finish. Chewy and bready malt. Maybe some earthy hopping also. The dry hopping is done well and doesn’t come off as metallic. Good beer. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

The aroma is big bold hops of pine and grapefruit juice, sweet tangelo backed up by a malty sweetness. The taste is semi sweet tangelo, orange peel and malt sweetness. Near midway the sweet malts elbow into the flavor but eventually succumb to increasing pine and grapefruit hop bitterness.Very tasty brew. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Gotta give a ten on aroma. This is the best aroma from an IPA I’ve ever had. Gotta love the dry hopping. Piny aroma almost like plinys little brother. This is up there with two hearted and AleSmith IMO. I’m a big fan of the pine in my IPAs though. Flavor is that smooth piney, citrus flavor with a little spice kick. Finishes clean with only a slight bitterness that lingers. Good IPA DYCSoccer17 (2200), Davis, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 13, 2008 12 ounce can in a single blind tasting with Maui Big Swell IPA. Both purchased at BevMo in Vacaville, CA. Nose has some herbal, sweet, candy-sugared notes present. A little graininess is also in there. This aroma is not overly hoppy. Transparent dark golden body with a medium white/’off-white head. Starts with a little spicy, earthy hop flavor. Has a nice sweet, malty backbone as well in the middle. Well-balanced with a little more hop flavor and bitterness than the first beer (Maui Big Swell IPA). Late flavors include some spicy and metallic hops. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA

Citrus nose with light grapefruit and pineapple, some toffee. Bittersweet hop taste, some pine and pepper, crisp. Bitter towards the back and some tea flavor comes out. Clean and nice. brianprentiss (475), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Canned, thanks to Mitch! Poured clear brighter golden with a short cap of white head.. some lacing as it descended. The aroma picked up sweet brighter grapefruit and juicy pears upfront with a lovely toffee backing. The flavor had juicy grapefruit and caramel sweetness at the core with drier grassy and piney bitterness surrounding.. spicy floral notes joined citrus on the finish. Medium-bodied and well-balanced on the palate with a spicy, refreshing finish. Very good stuff!
