The aroma is fine, it is great to smell, but I can’t really seem to find the evidence of "assertive malt backbone" in this beer. Also I think it also seems too highly carbonated, which does not help with increasing flavor. It is a bit overly smooth. Seems like the only thing that prevents me from chugging this is the bitterness. However, the hop characters in this beer allows for some sweet taste after drinking this beer.
Overall, I would say 21stA brew free or die IPA feels more like an overly hopped bud lite rather than an IPA.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Oct 21, 2009 Orange in color with a light copper head, with a nice lace left on the glass. It has a nice floral aroma that Is backed up with that first sip. This is well balanced with a heavy malt bill to back up the amount of hops. machfive55 (231), Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 19, 2009 This IPA had a very nice hop aroma, but was a little overboard on the bitterness which takes away from the flavor and palate of the beer. There is not a good balance between hops an malt. The beer was super fresh coming from a can though. An OK IPA for me. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

Pours a light, hazy gold with a thick off-white head and glass-coating lace. Flavor has a floral front against a husky malt backbone, soapy hops bitterness that overpowers the aroma hops a bit. Medium body, smooth and soft on the palate. bsjay (54), Oregon, USA
