larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 20, 2009 Draught at the brewpub
Hazy amber with a small, bubbly, white head.
A lot of yeasty grass in the aroma.
Medium dry bitterness.
A bit too much alcohol.
Well-hopped like a very good Belgian IPA. ryanknock (150), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 18, 2009 Nose of pepper, earth, pine, light orange and lemon, toast, toffee. Medium to light body, light amber color. Flavor is overwhelmingly citrus, lemon and orange, with white pepper, banana, pear, earth, wood, pine flavors in there. Complex hop profile, backed by a light phenolic yeast profile. Medium finish, very smooth and not overtly bitter as expected aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Apr 15, 2007 Bazzoka bubblegum and phenolic nose. Some white fruit and sulfur on the palate. Mildly hoppy and lingering finish. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Apr 11, 2007 Tasted on firkin at the 4th Annual Firkin Gravity Festival. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium yellow color. Small to medium sized head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, touch of spice and hops. Medium bodied BSA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and citrusy. It has that Belgian yeast and fruit character, but it’s got a bunch of hops as well. Nice balance. Mild soft carbonation. Very smooth taste. Touch of an alcohol bite at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Feb 21, 2007 Tulip at brewery - Aroma is cotton candy, bubblegum, strawberry candy and bready yeast with a touch of grassy hops. Pours cloudy ruby red with a small head and great lacing. Flavor is a sweet match to aroma with a much stronger hop presence (simcoe?). The alcohol also shows up here. Palate is crisp and tart. A tasty and unique brew. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Feb 2, 2007 Draft. Rich amber beer with a nice off-white head. yeasty, spicy aroma with some malts and backing hops. Estery/fruity flavor peach/lots of citrus with backing malt and spicy yeast. Lingering sweetness with esters and some phenolic components. Medium/full bodied. Hops and alcohol showing - though hops tend to be more of the PNW varietal and not a lot of noble hops like some of the Belgian IIPAs. Good complexity.
