Drank it on tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown/amber color. Smokey aroma, very ashy, like smoking a cigar, but light bodied.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours black with brown highlights and a small off-white head. Aroma is light roasted malt, with some rich chocolate notes. Flavor is mainly roasted malt, mostly rich but a little ashy in places, with a hint of hops in the finish. Slightly thin mouthfeel. Middle-of-the-road, but good.

Black-molasses with evanescent head. Sharp charcoal black patent burnt nose. Sharp roast flavor with light, burnt/smoky character and a hint of chocolate. A solid, roasty, lightly smoky porter that finishes moderately dry.

On tap at 21st Amendment, June 2007. Dark brown (almost black) with ruby edges and a thick, beige head that lasts forever. Great, roasty chocolately/coffee nose. Has somewhat of a sharp, roasty bitterness then notes of toffee, chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied with smooth, soft carbonation.

Draught, 21st Amendment. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/burnt grain, cocoa), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Overhopped and otherwise raw/crude. Poor.

Draught at the brewery. Beer is nearly opaque, very dark warm brown with a small, off-white, frothy, mostly lasting head.
The aroma is malty with a heavy note of roasted grain, moderate coffee note; Moderate hop note of resin/pine.
The flavor is lightly/moderately sweet, moderately bitter, light/moderately acidic with a long light/moderately bitter, lightly sweet, lightly acidic-feeling finish.
The body is medium, the texture is watery/velvety and the carbonation is lively.
IMO, nets out being all roasted grain and acidity.
