trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA Oct 27, 2008 Pours clear orange with a white ring of bubbles. Lots of caramel with some tropical hops in the nose. Kind of like a fruitcake. Earthy, yet citrusy in the taste. Grapefruit and blood orange. Good stuff. Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Oct 27, 2008 Tap @ O’Brien’s. Burnt orange in color with an herbal hop nose. Flavor was a bit on the earthy side, different, good! alexanderj (2212), Chino Hills, California, USA Oct 26, 2008 On tap at O’Briens. One of the better on the day. Light amber in color. Very nice and soothing aroma. Floral, toffee and earth. some sweetness in the aroma and flavor. Citrus and fruit in the flavor; nice balance. Very nice palate. Good stuff. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Oct 26, 2008 Tap @ O’brien’s 2nd of the night wet hop fest 08. Pours light orange with a bright white ring. nose is sweet and hoppy. Very nice nose. Taste is big on the citrus, tasty and overall very very nice. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Oct 17, 2008 Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Low hop aroma. Caramel and summer fruit flavor. Medium body. Easy drinking and low bitterness. Sweeter caramel lingers with some summer fruit. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Oct 17, 2008 This is a really good IPA, not overpowering in the hops department, just nice and balanced. Easy to drink.
Had on tap at Toronado in San Francisco. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA Nov 10, 2007 On draft at O’Briens Wet Hop Fest. Medium amber color, clear with a thin skin of foam. Toasty malt aromas, with a bit of toffee, orange & floral hops with a hint of mushy, spoiling herbs. Hop forward flavor with not quite enough toasty malt to balance well, tart lemon peel, floral notes and a grapefruit finish. Medium body and tingly carbonation. I probably did this one a disservice by letting it sit in the glass for a bit before rating, as I’ve noticed that wet hop beers can quickly turn from smelling and tasting fresh, to vegetal and spoiled. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 6, 2007 On tap at brewpub. It pours a deep clear gold with thin white head. The aroma is of grapefruit hops and orange wedges. Also I get some mild pine hops and malty sweetness. The flavor has some grapefruit hop bitterness, a wet hop green sense and mild pine hops. Very nice mixture of hop tones. Behind that is mild malt sweetness. The malts really play second fiddle here to the hops.
