lunaticharness (183), Roseville, Michigan, USA Nov 10, 2003 clove and nutmeg aroma, a rich ruby-brown color with a nice fat tan head, the spice over powered the malts and made this a little hard to drink, tasted like a pumpkin ale which i do not like
omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 16, 2007 Updated: Dec 21, 2007Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark ruby, small head. Distinct spicy nose with nutmeg, chocolate and spruce. Medium bodied with clean mouthfeel. Lightly roasty and richly spicy with orangey notes. Low-medium bitterness. Like most beers from this brewer the flavours are really good, but the mouthfeel is too clean and hard. Orion1800 (46), Piedmont, California, USA Jan 29, 2007 This beer wasawesome! Too many ’holiday’ brews use too litte spice - not 21st. This bold tasting brew had a cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg goodness. Bold but not over the top. Frgrant hops helped balance the spices, and I enjoyed the orangish color of this brew. tupalev (2337), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 30, 2005 On tap at the brewpub. Dark orange/light brown, very little bubbly head. Some cinnamon and nutmeg in aroma. Mouthfeel is very watery. Unbalanced malt and spice taste - way too much cinnamon. I didn’t really like this at all. Given the fact that this brewpub only had 3 beers on tap (I didn’t try the blonde), the service wasn’t very good, and the 2nd beer at the food tuned my stomach, it is safe to say this was my least favourite of all the brewpubs I visited on my trip to San Francisco. aspidites (1268), manteca, California, USA Mar 5, 2005 Almost perfect spice balance. not over the top as so many of this style are. Nutmeg allspice and cinamon touches with nice robust malt body and a touch of vanilla. mreeves (249), Sammamish, Washington, USA Jan 8, 2005 I was expecting something close to Anchor Christmas Ale for some reason, and this came nowhere near my expectations. Not much spice to speak of, and really too thin for the style. Just not much exciting here.
