MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 9, 2006 Updated: Apr 4, 2008 Any first impressions?
-A superb head idles atop a cloudy yellow sunshine, full of misty particles.
-Relentless citrusy, herbal, and floral Saaz perfumes invent new patterns every subsequent sniff.
-The smooth carbonation facilitates the gulp, emulating tapped Czech pils.
-The citrusy and herbal hoppiness proliferates on the tongue as well, without ever overdoing it.
What if you dig deeper?
-White peppery hops bloom in the perfume.
-A lingering, sandy, bready malt forms a bed for the complex, grassy hop finish.
-The mouthfeel is engaging, highly carbonated, but perfect for presenting its many flavors while remaining easy-drinking.
-A close relative to Svijany’s fantastic Rytir Bitter, or even the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell.
Would you like to bathe in it?
All day, if possible.
Bottle; no date. 4.2/5
A more recent batch was terribly disappointing, showing some sulphur, reduced hoppiness, and feeble hay...Flavors were lacking, body was tired, and overall it just didn’t have that spark of freshness the previous bottles had...3.2/5
vyvvy (1755), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours hazy orange / gold with a large rocky white head. The aroma is smooth with lightly toasted malt, lager maltiness, some powder and spicy hops. Medium body that is full for the style with some mild carbonation. The flavor starts a bit too sweet, but is still nice then has lots of spicy earthy hops. The finish is quite hoppy. Nice beer. smith4498 (382), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours hazy hay color with off white head. Bready, fruity Belgian yeast aromas. Similar taste with slight hops and pilsner flavors. Light to medium body with crisp carbonation. I really liked this beer. A good pilsner with a Belgian twist. Dickinsonbeer (2550), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Sep 29, 2008 Fresh bottle at bbf 08. I have had bottles before that have not been so fresh, so I had been reluctant to enter ratings. This bottle was mostly fresh- Pours a nice clear golden with lively carbonation and a nice lasting white head. Aroma is a bit weak but nice and fresh- earthy spicy hops and a nice delicate light fresh biscuity pils aroma. Flavor is also moderate to light with the pilsner, mostly watered down a bit from what i expected, nice fresh floral hop kick at the end and relatively smooth. nice pilsner but not a real standout. xmarcnolanx (680), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Sep 26, 2008 I love this beer.
I did not have much hope for it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Aroma is fruity esters, grain, and hops.
Very grainy.
