Bottle. Hazy orange brown with a small head. Aromas are musty and sour. Barnyard with vanilla. Woody with astringent vinegar. Flavours are sour, acidic lemon juice and vinegar. Some raspberry sweetness. Addictive.

Pours hazy deep magenta (not ruby) with pink head. Nose is nice; freshly picked raspberries, oaky woody notes, funky yeasty notes, and some root cellary hints. Tastes tart, but well balanced, and not a mouth puckering tartness. The tartness here seems to go with the raspberries, making it much more tolerable and less harsh than some lambics I’ve had. The raspberries taste natural (as they should), and this one is very good from start to finish.

Muddy red with a small white head. Berry aroma, slightly perfumed, and definitely raspberry. Also some malt, and some brett although strangely subdued. Very tart and dry, refreshing. Some raspberry acid. The cherry addition actually shows up in the aftertaste.

Bottle (Feb 07 bottling). Head is initially small, fizzy, pink, fully diminishing. Body is hazy medium reddish-purple, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately yeasty (horseblanket, barnyard, cobwebs), with notes of raspberry and cherry, light notes of band-aid, sour apple, and wood. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/soft carbonation. I rarely say this, but that’s because I rarely believe it’s true: this will probably benefit greatly from another couple of years in the bottle. Although the aroma is very enticing and vibrant, it’s pretty fruit-forward right now, as with young wine (and priced like the latter as well, at least in the States...$35 a bottle here in Colorado). I would also ideally want a smidge less sweetness and a smidge more tartness. These are nits...it’s great stuff as-is to be sure. And given a few years for the fruits to fade a bit and some aged characters to take their place, I have little doubt that it will gain more depth and breadth.

first sampled at rbesg07 grand tasting, then a bottle courtesy of duff, shared with betty. bright pink coloured with an off-pink head which died quickly. aroma of grapefruit rind, swimming pool and jerking off in a cherry orchard, some sherbet and cherry ripe flavours with hints of apple raspberry flavoured cottee’s cordial and masking tape. the sourness is balanced but still vigorous, beautiful stuff

Bottle shared with Marcus and Steve at Toronado. Reddish/mahogany color with a minimal pinkish head. A nice sour aroma. Hard to pick up any raspbery. Near medium body with mild carbonation. It is smooth oaky sour. The raspberries are not overwhelming. It brings kalamata olives to mind. Astringent, woody and dry. But some sort of sour sugar hits the sides of the mouth in the finish.

Beautiful dark red body with a light pink head. The aroma is massive raspberries with some hay. There are also some leathery notes. The taste is very tart with some light raspberries behind it. There is also some leathery goodness behind that. A light clean body, this is not as overwhelming as I would have expected. Very nicely made with a dry finish.

Ruby red brew topped by pink fading head and minimal head. The nose is acidic sour fruits (raspberrty and cherry), oak, hint of brett funk and urine. The taste is more of the same, very sour fruit and light handed funk. The mouth feel is minerally and woody, sprite and lively. It was you expected, nothing more. Seems to be neither funky enough nor earthy enough, perhaps need more age. This bottle is only 1+ year old. No where near the complexity levels of the Scharebeerse Kriek IMO.
