BartC (253), Lichtaart, Belgium Sep 10, 2007 I’m afraid my English vocabulary is to limited to describe such a superb beer. Hell, even my Flemish is to limited I’m afraid.
Purple head quickly disappearing after pouring the bear. Good carbonation. Self-evident fruity aroma’s dominated by the cherries but after some time I also recognise the raspberries. Cherry is dominantly present at the start, but when the cherry’s faint away, the raspberries pop up.
I don’t think you can get closer to perfection for this style of beer. My first 20/20. Only a slightly longer lasting head might have resulted in a completely perfect score. BDR (1903), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jan 12, 2008 Updated: Jun 25, 2008Many thanks to hellomynameis for this great treat. Massive sour barnyard funk with excellent lactic character. Faint cherry and raspberry flavor. Wow. Lactic flavor with some funk. Amazing beer. Reminds me of a wisconsin spring. Ok, end wine pretense.
My second tasting of this was better than I remembered it. Bottled at Falling Rock. The as tart and refreshing as I remember, but the cherry really smoothed out the finish. airforce1 (61), Atascosa, Texas, USA Jun 25, 2008 Like a sweet Rapsberry Jam. For a Lambic, not much tartness or funk at all, which is nice for a cjange. Damn good beer, but a bit pricey for sure. hellomynameis (743), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jan 12, 2008 There is a lot of barnyard and funk in this aroma with some sour cherry notes and a bit of raspberry sweetness. It is nicely carbonated with some soft fizz on the tongue. Lots of raspberry up front with a bunch of lactic sourness with tart cherries finishing it out. Really nice overall with some very interesting flavours. Schroppfy (1733), Ohio, USA Sep 22, 2008 Hedonically nearly perfect. The aroma is perfectly balanced between real fresh fruit, and framboise. By this I mean the raspberry is so real it transcends the lambicness at times, then just melds with it. A stony, pitty aroma presence, minerally at times, runs around in waves. The color is incredibly gorgeous, with the hints of tan increasing thoughts of leather in the horse barn. Flavors are somewhat acetic, somewhat lactic, sweet and sour and leathery. Incredible back of the throat sourness. Palate lets down just the tiniest bit; first brawny and slippery and thick, then with the feeling of a slight watery hole. A truly great beer. Thanks John.
