This beer was the epitome of barnyard with a huge dose of funky earthiness and leather with an almost waxy aroma accompaning the cherry and cranberry like overtones. the palate is brutally sour and almost tastes like fresh NW MT huckleberries as well as a good dose of leather, barnyard and some light cherry tones. Nice yeasty dry tart lasting finish. This is another great example of how addictive sour beer can be when done right. Very delicious! padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 3, 2008 From a bottle shared at the Grand Tasting during RBSG 2008 in San Diego. Lots of sour cherries in the aromas and sweet sourness in the flavor. An excellent lambic, one of my favorite of the day. wetherel (1641), Encinitas, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Updated: Sep 30, 2007Bottle from ygtbsm94, Thanks Brad!Tasted in line at Alesmith’s September 2007 BA release. Cloudy pink color. Small head composed of microbubbles. Aroma reminds me of a mellowed gueze. Mildy sour and mild funk. The raspberry flavor was good, and pleasantly different than other raspberry beers, because of the lower unfermented sugars. Was expecting a punch in the face of flavor and sourness, but found a world class beer that is easy to drink. Something that everyone would like connoiseurs to grandmas. Excellent. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Bottled on Feb 14, 2007 thanks to Yem25. Pours with a lightly pink, creamy head and a very muddy, deep red body with great lacing. Aroma is champagne notes with raspberry, horse hair, vinegar, cherries, pineapple, vanilla, toffee and mustiness. Taste is complex with champagne, raspberries, oats, barnyard, cherries...Complex and clean. Light amount, but tickling bubbles with a dry mouthfeel. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 13, 2008 This was great. Solid red in color with not much head. Cherry and raspberry aroma. Quite tart in flavor which was a great suprise, with a hint of sour but not too much. nbutler11 (773), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2009 I nearly crapped my pants when Sparky27 busted this out for Black Friday, so huge thanks to Eric! Pours ruby in color with a pink head -- very pretty for a beer. Very barnyard -- loaded with the aroma of funky yeast and underripe raspberries. Tastes aggressively of Worchestire sauce at the front of the palate followed by an almost Kool-Aid-like tart cherry/raspberry flavor on the finish. Unique and memorable. Glad to have had this one. With some friends we shared a bottle at the 3 fonteinen restaurant.
It is a shiny deep red brew with a pretty pinkish head. It has a delightful, fresh fruit aroma, with champagne and some honey.
The taste is beautiful fruit, nice acidity and tartness, reminding of champagne and red wine. bhensonb (4392), Woodland, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Bottle shared with Marcus and Steve at Toronado. Reddish/mahogany color with a minimal pinkish head. A nice sour aroma. Hard to pick up any raspbery. Near medium body with mild carbonation. It is smooth oaky sour. The raspberries are not overwhelming. It brings kalamata olives to mind. Astringent, woody and dry. But some sort of sour sugar hits the sides of the mouth in the finish.
