Hellomynameis was good to share this rare beer. Bright red color, very impressive appearance on this beer. The intense aroma has wild yeast and a barnyard character with sour fruit that includes raspberry. Interestingly, this seems to be thick on the palate for a lambic. Excellent flavors, with fruit, fructose, and considerable sour flavor and more yeast. This is something special.

Bottle: (Thanks ygtbsm94!) Pours a deep hazy red with a pinkish head. The aroma is both fruity and funky/sweet and tart with tart raspberry, sweeter notes of cherry (almond-like) notes along with a crisp earthy acidity, barnyard/horse blanket, brie cheese funk and leather. Has a medium acidity on the palate. Flavor is very tart/almost sour. Acidic raspberry skin character is evident, followed by a subtle sweet note from the cherry which is marzipan-like. Then lots of funk come out with cork, leather, mild salty notes, barnyard and residual acetic flavors. Has a mineral-y note into the bone dry finish. Very well integrated fruit notes; this is great stuff.

What a fantastic beer. Picked this up as a special occassion beer, and it did’nt let me down! Pours a murky reddish purple, with a pencil thin ring of lacing . Aroma is sour , sour, sour, and full of funk. The rasberries really penetrate and fill the nostrils, while the cherries add lots of character. Flavor is very tart and sour, with a big fruity punch. Lots of raspberry, but it never becomes overly sweet or sticky. Some straw, funk, and yeast in the background. Some hay-type notes in the background. Very sour on the palate. The funk, sourness, and fruit come together almost perfectly. This is an excellent beer...but, in its current form, it just doesn’t justify the price tag, when there’s some other almost-as-good lambic out there for half the price. However, this one should age amazingly.

Hedonically nearly perfect. The aroma is perfectly balanced between real fresh fruit, and framboise. By this I mean the raspberry is so real it transcends the lambicness at times, then just melds with it. A stony, pitty aroma presence, minerally at times, runs around in waves. The color is incredibly gorgeous, with the hints of tan increasing thoughts of leather in the horse barn. Flavors are somewhat acetic, somewhat lactic, sweet and sour and leathery. Incredible back of the throat sourness. Palate lets down just the tiniest bit; first brawny and slippery and thick, then with the feeling of a slight watery hole. A truly great beer. Thanks John.

Bottle at EBF08. Good citric fruit, berry aroma. Deep red colour. The flavour is citric but mild, rounded off by the fruit. Very nice.

Deep red in colour with just a bit of brown thrown in, very thin white coloured head that left no lacing. The aroma is of light cherries, lots of tart raspberries, lightly acidic, some oak, sour. The flavour is very tart to start, dries out then gets a bit sweet, lots of tart raspberries throughout this, sour, some grapes. Tart mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long with some sweetness but then the tart raspberries take over.

A wonderful fruit lambic. Great sourness and tartness throughout this. I see this one aging very well.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with henrikb, thanks Henrik.
Opened on March 25, 2008.
Bottled February 14, 2007.
