Birthday Beer #2. 750mL bottle split with artusory, courtesy of fonefan. Thanks, Jan! Pours a hazy, effervescent orangish-golden color; sturdy off-white head with great retention and lacing that stays affixed to the sides of the glass. Relaxed, oak-tinged sourness in the aroma; horseblanket and funk, with a chewy citrus presence holding things together; grapefruit and hints of vanilla. Lively, champagne-like carbonation in a medium-to-full mouthfeel; not fizzy, but textured and very alive on the palate; excellent, mouthwatering acidity; citrus, toasty oak, and cobwebby funk; much lighter acidity and toned-down citrus presence compared to the Roze, and softer on the palate overall; generous, intense funk with a dense tangerine (thanks, Ryan) fruit character. Just an amazing gueuze. Lengthy, cobwebby and mildly tart fruit finish; slightly dusty.

Orange with a small bubbly head. Smooth aroma, grapefruit, horseblanket, hint of caramel. Extremely tart, quite malty flavour for a geuze, finishes with a hint of a grapefruity sweetness.

Well, I guess it’s time to rate this beer. First of all, thanks to Chris for sharing both the Blauw and the Roze, what an awesome experience. Pours a slightly hazy bright orange-amber color with a very effervescent head (more so than the Roze). This beer is forward in both the funky aroma and the appearance. Aroma is citrusy, peppery, with hints of herbal grassyness. Flavor is very acidic and bright. Dark citrus astringency with a prickly dry finish. Finish is tight and tart.

Bottle, chris_o shindig. Orange hazy with thin white head. Gueuzey complex, sharp, smoother underlying sweetness. Mouth is smooth, blended. Slight berry bite about it. Reeeeally nice.

Bottle at Chris_o Shindig. You see, this is good and I much prefer something to this to the Cantillon Blabaer that I had before. This has more balanced sourness and good funk. Excellent fruit. Really gorgeous funk and sourness.

Bottle@chris_o. Soft but complex aroma of oak, barnyard, wheat and sourness. Hazy, yellow color, off-white head, fair lace. Sour, sweet, bitter, oak, barnyard, yep it’s all there and in the right amounts. Soft but woody dry finish. Very well balanced but amazingly complex.

Bottled - Chris O shindig 2007 - A hazy orange blonde lambic. The aroma is suoper sour, super funky and super delicious. The taste is more of the same. Excellent barnyard notes. Too funky for words. Wonderful.
