Bottle shared at Cleveland tasting on 8-23-08. Thanks!! Bottle pours cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma of earth, lemon, tartness, and wood vinegar come to mind. Has a medium body with a lot of carbonation. Taste is very clean and crisp with lemon, more tart flavors and puckering than the roze I just tried, some oak, and some yeasty overtones. Has a smooth finish. Overall this is a wonderful beer that I would highly recommend. Easily a world class brew.

RBSG 2008. Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Dry acidic nose, hints of cheese, apple, and dusty barn. Very well balanced with a mellow sourness and acidity.

I hope nobody minds this placeholder rating for the purposes of the DD Top Ten list accuracy. l’ve got a real rating somewhere, and l’ll enter it one of these days, but for now l hope it’s enough to say that one of the bottles I had of this was the single greatest beer l have ever had, bar none. Simply incredible.

RBSG ’08. Bottle shared at the Grand Tasting at Pizza Port Carlsbad. 1993 Vintage. This was a big standout geuze for me at the tasting. Pours opaque yellow with some white bubbles and yeast sediment. Mature aroma of wet barnyard, earth, juniper and fresh flowers. Lots of lemon citrus, oak and toasted biscuit yeast tones in the flavor. Moderate acidity. Very, very easy to drink. It still has some soft carbonation in the finish.

Bottle shared at RBSG 08 Grand Tasting. Cloudy dark gold color with a nice bubbly head. Aroma is explosive with oak and lemon. Very sharp. Flavors of lemon juice, crabapple skins, vinegar. All with an even woodiness throughout. Very crisp and drying on the palate. Very intense but easily drinkable for sour lovers.

Thanks to Hopdog for sharing this 750ml bottle dated 6-9-2003. It burst which was quite the surprise after the Roze didn’t open the same way. It poured a cloudier light gold in color with a medium sized white head that left a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is tart, brett funkiness, oak. Taste is tart, lemongrass, oak, funky, citric, and very puckering. The Blauw has more of a puckering tartness compared next to the Roze. It’s really a complex brew to describe, but it really is incredible. I never thought I’d have the chance to try this. Thanks again Steve!!!

Bottle, bottled on 6 May 2003, enjoyed at De Heeren van Liedekercke. Pours cloudy amber with a surprisingly thick (for a geuze) yellow head. Intensively acidic and woody nose. Oak is noticeable among the lemony lambik aromas. Complex woody and lemony flavours. The wood stays all the way, blending perfectly with the lemons flavours. Acidic dryness that make you cry out for another glass. Medium body, good carbonation. Near perfection as expected when De Heeren van Liedekercke teams up with Drie Fonteinen.
