rudolf (1572), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 4, 2008 Thanks to Jeff! Cloudy gold, head may have a hint of color. Nose is lemon, a good amount of bright fruits. Acidity shows a hint of balsamic, wood. Flavor is lemony acid, no bitterness at all. Wood is present but not forward. Nice light malt ties it all together. Finish is tart & acidic, a hint of straw, fruit (strawberry?)
Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 19, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Hazy golden with a fine little creamy off-white head leaving laces. Classic gueuze aroma of horse blanket and manure. Medium body with very dry Brett accents, fruitiness and even a light underlying bitterness. A very mellow gueuze which is pleasantly drinkable and not excessively sour. 211008 yespr (7121), Copenhagen O, Denmark Oct 27, 2008 RB#7000 / RB BE #1000: 75 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a slowly collapsing tan head. Smooth barnyard and earthy aroma with a mild acidic bite in the nose. Dry and wooden flavoured with a nice acidic to citric dry base flavour. Starts with a smooth finish slowly decending into a nice acidic to citric finish. Dry and wooden into the far finish. Extremely smooth. thewolf (4108), Kolding, Denmark Oct 24, 2008 Bottle. [thank you sooo much, Yespr]
Pours a muddy, pale orange with no head to speak of. Aroma has oranges, good tartness, apples, wood and a slight spicy sweet edge. Light, soft carbonation, pretty dry, but with a stunning creaminess and softness. The flavour is wonderfully fruity, some oranges, good tartness, super oakiness, a touch of vanilla and very dry. Very good, especially the mouthfeel. MiP (6191), Flensburg, Germany Oct 23, 2008 Bottle, 7%. Thank you, yespr. Very nice citric aroma, seems to have a little fruit. Cloudy dark orange colour. Good citric flavour, some yeast. Good dry aftertaste, very well-rounded. Nice mouthpuckering, but nice and sour, yet mild and round. Grovlam (3312), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 20, 2008 Updated: Oct 21, 2008Bottle. [Tasting @ Papsoe 20-10-2008] Vintage 1998. Huge fin bubbled white head that mostly lasted. Excellent display of lacework. Cloudy golden color. Aroma of leather, barnyard, vinegar, fruit, wheat. Heavy complexity with notes of vinegar, citrus, leather, mild soap, perfume. Very smooth and almost creamy texture which I guess is quite unique for a Geuze. Quite full bodied with a surprisingly sparkling carbonation and very dry texture. Moderated acidic flavor with good counter sweetness. Lingering dry and smooth sour finish. Huge thanks to Jesper for this one!
