Enjoyed with Ølklubben. Pours a hazy dark yellow with a medium off-white head. Sour with some bitterness and a light sweetness. Nice round sweetness. Medium bodied. Quite fruity with aromas of strawberrie and sour grapes. Also some wood. Bitter finish with a hint of peppermint. Tak til bager.

Bottle at SBWF 2007. First off, huge thanx to Duvel Cafe for the opportunity to try this! The aroma on this beer is simply amazing, so complex. There’s the usual house notes of Drie Fonteinen, the funk and the Brett - but there’s more - an odd citrusy note that I’ve never sensed in a gueuze before. Of course, the taste ain’t bad either... A true once-in-a-lifetime experience..

Bottled. Deep goldeny orange colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is sourness, wood and slight hints of leather. Flavour is earthy, wooden, slightly fruity bitterness and overall really sour. A really pleasant Gueuze.

750ml . bottle at BCTC ’07. Hazy, dark orange color with a large beige head. Funky, musty aroma of wet leather, light cheese and citrus. Nice! Flavor was funky, but not as much as the aroma lead me to believe. There was still the wet straw, wet leather mustiness, along with the citrus and moldy cheese, but they were all just a bit muted compared to the aroma. Moderate tartness. Is it because of the age? Not sure because I have had plenty of old gueuzes that held up extremely well. Was totally psyched to be able to try this beer, and was only mildly disappointed. Big thanks to the Shelton Bros. for bringing so many of these for everyone to try.

750mL bottle, first taste of the afternoon session, BCTC 2007. Pours a hazy, orangish-brown color; enormous light tan head that lasts forever; fluffy with brilliant lacing. Dense, horseblanket and straw; tart citrus and plenty of funk in the aroma. Medium-to-full, nicely tart mouthfeel: intense citrus and funk; perfect levels of mouthwatering acidity; some white pepper and drying after mid-palate. Medium, dry tart citrus finish.

[multiple samples at BCTC ’07 thanks to the Shelton Bros] Shit, this was tasty. BCTC this year was littered with sour/wild brews and I thoroughly enjoyed drinking all of them. Funky, tart, horseblanket must--pure deliciousness from this gueuze. Didnt take any concrete notes, but this one would be hard to forget. Smoother going down than many gueuzes I have consumed. Yum.

I have to say Im not a big fan of Geuze so hence the rating. Huge sour aroma. tart, musty & very sour. had with IPFreely
