Strange aroma, very sour/tart lemonlike, but not mouth puckering like most. Faint horsey/grassy background notes. Dry woody notes as well. Flavor a tad woodier than aroma suggests. Lots of tannins, sourness is subdued. Finishes very clean and dry. Forever in debt for the chance to try this. Thanks Tom!! nolankowal (854), Columbus, Ohio, USA

I’ve been wanting this beer badly and was really excited to get to taste it. What a wonderful experience this was. Aroma is inviting--floral presence at first, followed by a faint sour nose with some very light yeast and spices. Complex, and a sign of things to come. Hazy golden brown in appearance with a thick white head. The palate is full, and carbonated perfectly. This is a divine tasting brew to be sure. Starts lightly sour with some faint green apple taste. As you get past the initial flavors, you begin to pick out the yeast and and floral aspects. The blend of the floral and sour tastes strikes a beautiful balance in this beer--making it incredibly easy to drink for this style--and just as enjoyable. Wonderful! He did however trade my 2004 Dark Lord for it.. Pours cloudy bright amber with a short white head. Aromas of funk, cheese, and sharp sourness. Flavor is much more mild than other guezes i’ve tried. It was quite sour. Interesting notes of cheese and funk, almost dusty too but amazingly balanced and smooth. Not usually a fan of this style but this one was good. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

Not being a lambic/gueze fan this is a huge step for me to rate this beer over a 4. I really enjoyed this one though. And for almost being 10 years old...boy did this beer hold up against the test of time. It was in magnificent shape. Lots of funk in the nose, some sour, a little presence of the dusty/musty cobwebs aromas...but not too much. The flavor is very acidic but not over the top and very welcome in this beer. Lots of tartness and fruity flavors going on as well. Very enjoyable and one of the best lambics/guezes I have ever had boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 26, 2007 Cloudy golden body with bright white and orange outlying hues, very bold looking, like it’s awake. Moderate white foamy head is slow to recede, never fully doing so. Lacing is thick and intricately webbed and fully covering, to the last sip. Quite vibrant for a beer of this age. A gently caressing nose is very expressive, even in its mellowed state. Notes of must and dust peel back slowly to reveal a blend of citrus fruits, sour barnyard, wheat, minerals, tart cherries, apples and ascorbic acid(chewable vitamin C), grassy notes and a full-on assault of yeast. What an experience. Flavor is mildly acidic and heavily fruity. Sweetness is just apparent enough to provide a sense of balance. Bitterness sets in late and with a full coating near the finish. Medium to medium-full bodied mouthfeel, zesty and refined at once. The palate is perfectly wrought, an intense maze of carbonation and yeasty particulates, with a dab of lemon juice acidity for good measure. Spicy and warming, the swallow leads to a finish of neverending complexity, lengthy and sublime. Light bitterness counterbalances a marauding sweetness that builds with each sip. An absolute knockout, as per the usual with this most graceful brewery.
