Commercial Description:
Vintage 2002: released beginning 2006
Vintage 2003: released autumn 2006
Vintage 2004: released summer 2007
Vintage 2005: released summer 2008

Editor’s Note: There is a lot of confusion on this one. Please look at your bottle. It belongs here only if it says "Vintage" on the label. If it does not, it belongs under the regular Oude Gueuze listing. The above vintage guide is not what you should go by, as there are both 2002, 2003, 2004, etc...releases of Vintage and Regular Oude Gueuze.

vintage 2002. Medium orange color, cloudy, white head. Incredibly sharp, pungent beer. Light bitterness, very sour, long biting aftertaste. High acid level, funky as hell. Delicious stuff. Thanks again Jeff

(Vintage 2002). Orange colored, vanishing white head. Ok, what can there be else than strong dryness, sourness and some fruits, good and rich aroma indeed. Medium bodied. Extremely sour and dry flavored lambic with fruity tones also. Aftertaste lasts long!

Aroma: very sourish, musty, flowery, vaguely soap-like, dandelion, lovely malt, leather, grass, apple peel, smoky, slightly burnt, cheeselike.
Appearance: turbid fruity orange yellow with yellowtinted, white head - which looks very healthsome.
Flavor: sour, not that strong, soft, vinous, some bitterness, full-bodied aftertaste, tannic acid?, acrid somehow, very dry. - weak, watery

Palate: pretty much co2 but w/ a fanstastic body, fat, meaty, sparkling noble.

Very special, dry and noble.

Smoky, sour and fruity aroma. In the taste you find acidity, smoke, some fruit and alot of oak (?) wood barrel.

First of all, massive, MASSIVE thanks to diabel for sending me this. I owe you big-time!
Clear amber with an anemic head which does its best to hang on to the bottom of the glass. Loads of stuff going on in the aroma in a very refined kinda way - classic 3F really. There are those Vervifontaine-style wildflowers, violets and fresh-cut grass with something that’s reminiscent of the Pajottenland countryside itself - cowdung? Balsa wood, sawdust, cherries, pepper, lemon rind, sherbet, musty cobwebs and moisturiser all get a bit of a run too, with some prickly volatile acids getting into the nasal cavity. Very dry and quite light-bodied with no real initial sweetness at all, before an assertive but certainly not aggressive orange juice tartness which persists for quite some time. What certainly is aggressive is a rough, astringent, woody, stale hop bitterness which is alright and quite interesting but does get a bit much in parts, giving a finish like super-strength tonic water. Mouthfeel is quite round, with only moderate carbonation, but the considerable tannic presence makes it quite interesting. The bitterness is a bit awkward but this is still delightful stuff. Really bright flavours, vibrant and fresh. It’s quite amazing to think it’s already four years in the bottle. Top stuff.

Thank you so much Anthony for bringing this treasure along to our little mini gathering in Hamburg. Murky orange color with a big fluffy head on top. Fizzy carbonation. Bubble gum orange nose. Pungeant - orange taste - balanced - very nice.

[750ml bottle] Orange colour with a slight haze. Rich head. Earthy, acidic barnyard aroma. Very smooth and balanced with taste of rhubarb and iron.

Bottled. Hazy orange in colour. Rich bubbly white head. Minor lacings. It has a earthy and barnyardish aroma. The flavour is fresh and earthly. Sour with fruits and some citric scents. There is a sweet and sour aftertaste.
