Clear and sparkling. Medium body, thick feel and soft carbonation. The beer is well balanced and only lightly sour. Aroma of cherry and oak/wood. Finish with some sweetness and bitterness from the cherries. A great beer. JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2007 Seriously, I’ve never rated this? 75 cL shared among friends, pours a dull red color with some sparse bubbles on top. Low carbonation in this one. Intensely fruity tart cherries steal the show, against a musty backdrop of lemon, barnyard, sweatsocks. A tiny touch of sweetness from the fruit remains, some light bitterness from the acidity, and even some detectable hops left in there. Somewhat dry finish. My favorite part is when I’m done with the sipping, and I just gulp some down to quench the thirst. DruncanVeasey (2732), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England

Rubber corked 375ml bottle back-to-back with Belle Vue Extra Kriek, just for the hell of it. Merlot Vs Rose. Impenetrably ruby pour. A beer that will not be agitated into a head from any height. Vinaigrette, red wine and brie rind aroma. Comfortably falls the sherbety, saliva-making side of sour. The faintest tickle of carbonation. More like a 10% glass of red wine than any beer I’ve encountered. The fruit that emerges is as much grape, cranberry, crab apple and satsuma as it is cherry. No concessions to the sweetshop market whatsoever. Tingling, deeply fruity and sharp. First Kriek I’ve tried that doesn’t have that perfumey cherrydrop sweetness. And I like it.
