Sourish and soft musty sweet cherry aromas. Flavour is dominated by acrid and sour notes. Cherry flavours are playing second violin, while brettanomyces playing first. Lots of cherry flavour upfront, but only a few in the finish. Aftertaste is mostly sourish with cellar aroma and flavours. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2006 Bottled February 26, 2005. Opaque ruby with streaks pink. Initially a small, fizzy pink head that quickly dissipates leaving only a few bubbles meandering around the surface of the beer. Fruity, sour nose. Tart cherries, wheat chaff, mild acidity, sweet strawberries, mild oak character, hints of mildly funky cheese and fresh leather. Perhaps a bit of lemon zest as well. The body is fairly full for the style and at times reminiscent of biting into a fresh berry. The sour acidity, funky brett and sweet fruit are the dominate players on the tongue. The sour character meshes with the fruit quite well, but it’s not as sour as I expected. Very smooth and almost creamy, the body adds to the sense of lowered acidity. The balance sweet fruit and mild acidity make this a great, authentic entry into the wonderful world of lambic. Give this to your friends, if you can part with it... Silently popped cork. Light hazy red colour. Almost no foam at all. Cherry stone nose, with hints of almonds. Flavour is a bit more complex. Tart cherries, solvent, wheat(?), wood, acid. Enormously dry mouthfeel. Perfect palate cleanser. Unlike other raters, I did not find any sweetness. CapFlu (3483), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2006 (37,5cl bottle) Poursa deep red, fizzy body with a thin, white, dissipating head. The nose is very sour with a funky yeast and vinegar aroma. Flavours of sour cherries are hidden amongst a terribly puckering sourness. Good but not a regular beer for me.
