Smells mostly like cherries and funky wood. Taste is huge with some earthy malts tucked away, along with farmhouse, lemon, and cherry. Incredibly sour. yesyouam (602), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2009 Drie Fonteinen Oude Kriek is a solid, sparkling, red beer with a small, frothy, pink head. It has a musty wooden aroma like cherries and barrels. There are champagne notes in the nose. It has a bubbly light body with a lively finish. It is very sour with no sweetness. It’s mostly sour cherry and bret. There’s a resiny oak flavor that creeps in and the aftertaste is all sour cherry. This sounds silly, but if you toss a little Disaronno in this, it makes a great cocktail. JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Gorgeous looking pour, with moderately full carbonation and a deep hazy red color, with faint notes of purple. Musty aroma and tart cherries definitely complement the wood, all of it suffused with lovely grass, funk, and a dry finish. Not quite as complex as I’d like, a good drinking lambic I suppose. But definitely a very enjoyable and fine beer. Rciesla (3719), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

Chewy cherry pit and skins, a light balsamic vinegar notes, low acidity tart but not mouth puckering. A nice kriek. kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand

Dry? holy shit this is so mouth puckeringly dry that my lips were stuck to my teeth! Love it! Anker (309), Hillerød, Denmark

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 3, 2009 Deep black cherry color, not much head. Rich cherry flavor well-balanced against the sour. Generally more mellow than other krieks I’ve tried. Slightly musty aftertaste. Very nice. kwatoko (30), Belgium
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark red in colour, head almost immediately completely disappears, there’s also very little visible carbonation. Aroma of cherries or maybe cherry ski!n, but not sweet. Taste very acidy, cherries (those unsweetened ones we buy in glass bottles at the store), maybe some wood taste as well. This beer is an absolute high-flyer!
