Thanks to Degarth for opening this puppy.

Pours cloudy cherry red with white to pink foam head. The aroma is tart tartness with a trickle of cherry fruitiness and the slightest yeast note. The flavor starts with sweet and tart cherry fruitiness that leads into a more harsh tartness. Tastes a bit like eating un-ripe cherries. There is also some funk that becomes noticeable about midway. At the finish I start to notice a growing wood essence. The source of the 0.75L bottle is unknowable. This 2006 vintage pours hazy cherry red with copper edges and thin off white head. The moderate aroma has musty fruit notes, dank-ness, cherries and mild tart notes. Lots going on in there. The taste is much the same but more tart than what I noticed in the aroma with un-ripe tart cherries, a bit of sweet ripe cherries and then more notes that were not cherry in nature. Hmm. The aroma seemed much different than the taste and far more complex.

My thanks to Brewfiend for sharing this rare, expensive treat. This beer is pretty awesome. Sour barnyard aroma that includes lots of fruit. This has the acidic aroma of a real lambic. Bright, vibrant red color. Lots of real cherry flavor along with sour acidity, and more barnyard. One of the best fruit beers, or lambics, I have had the chance to try.

Bottle, 2004? Notes say: This is gueuze with something amazing in it, this is outstanding, i love this beer, OMG im a funk ass fool! RERATE: Bottle huge thanks to Mes&sim. Basicly i was sitting and opened this and drank the entire bottle myself without even thinking about it. I never do that with a beer something will start to bother me or get in the way, i’ll find a problem with it and dwell on that if given time to drink an entire 750. But this has no falts and is worth its weight in gold.

Bottle. 75cl. (thx to papsoe) Pours a candyred color, a bit unclear, with a pinkish-white head. Sourness and cherry, with barnyard and horse-blanket in the background. Nice and balanced. The flavor has cherry, sourness and barnyard, leading to a long lemony and cherry finish. Astringent, medium body. A really lovely kriek. (070510)

Pours a cloudy deep cherry red color with almost no head. Light white swirls float on top the surface. Smells of big acidity and sourness. Some cherry notes there as well, as you would expect. The first sip just puckers the lips, as lambics always do to me, even though I’m expecting it. This one wasnt so powerful, as some I’ve had though. Very nice cherry mixed with sourness. You definitely get some of that oak in the taste too. Really, really smooth beer. I wasnt expecting that. Actually pretty easy to drink, with some lovely cherry flavors. Solid kriek.

There was a time long ago (as in 10 days ago) when Lambics were the bane of my existence. Ever since I conquered one though, I have a newfound confidence. I boldly picked this one from Degarth’s cellar, no longer cowering just from the sight of the bottle. Pours a ruby red body with a small, pink head. Nose of cherry, oak, vanilla, barnyard. Heavily astringent on the fore, with flavors of cherries, wood notes, sour funkiness. Finish is mouth puckering, acidic, sour and sublime. Spritzy mouthfeel, medium bodied and in length of finish. Very pungent all the way around and not for beginners. Did I just say that?

750 mL. Lovely color, pinkish/orange color wiht a light pink head. Good nose of lambic and cherries. Phenomenal cherry fruit character, natural, pure, juicy and lingering on the palate. Mouth feel seems a bit off. Awfully outstanding still, but not my favorite of 3F.
