The aroma is quite big - sweet juicy cherries, some wheat, and then small waves of brett. Really juicy and acidic cherries - some active carbonation and slightly flowery. Balanced only a little bit by some cherry sweetness. The finish is a commingling of juicy sweetness and then stretches out to be long and dry. ¾ (5003), Colorado, USA

Consumed at the Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation, Opstal, May 2006 Very cloudy dark red and purple hue, with a light pink and purple head. Sweaty nose, perfumy and sweaty (like BO), with a strange raw grain and spoiled cherry aroma. First taste is raw, then a bit sour and caustic, but it mellows quickly into a more creamy, pasty perfumed cream, rose and cherry flavor. Finishes better than it begins.
Resampled twice in 2007 from 750ml bottles. Much more what I was expected, much more rich fruit and cherries, lightly sweet, but still a little weird. Better this time, though. eaglefan538 (2399), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 9, 2006 Poured a nice beautiful burgundy reddish color with a very thin pink head that yielded pretty good lacing. The aroma was citrusy-tart with the barnyard aromas in there. The flavor was tart, lots of funky lambic flavors going on. Only in the after after taste did I find the cherries, as they were very subtle, not overdone. Not much sweet about this beer and the cherries were underplayed, imo. chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA

Very pretty, seductive red appearance, aroma is tart, as is the beer, with cherry and hints of oak. Liked this one very much. JohnC (2286), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Rating #960
750ml 2005 bottling.
Pours with a brilliant ruby body and a tall finely laced rose colored head. The aroma is absolutely divine! GOD… I think I have just died because my soul is fluttering! This is bliss on earth… as far as beer goes! A bold sourdough malty like undertone… a tannic, very mildly lactic finish. It is cherries and oak, and vanilla, and fresh yogurt, melded with a musty cask and old damp farmhouse cellar. Wet grains, a fresh bundle of wheat wrapped burlap, horse blanket, worn leather all seem to be blended with the most marvelous sweet & sour cherries you have ever tasted! The beer dances in my mouth like a silk drape hung beside a breezy open window… A most Marvelous liquid luxury!
