I still have the taste in my mouth, even after 3 weeks since trying it. This is sour as usual, but more balanced than most. Subtle juicy, cherry sweetness, i can taste some fleshy cherry in here, but its not sweet, very dry. Of course theirs the standard earthy cheesy barnyardy aromas, flavours, but this just seemed to have something else, but i’m really not sure what it was. This beer is so juicy, puckering, but not overly so, like so many lambic beers can be. Really amazing. Perfect mouthfeel, just the right dose of refreshing sourness. Aroma is tart cherries, sponge, cinnamon and wood. Taste is both tart and sweet, acidic and sour cherries. This is as good of a Belgian beer that Ive ever had. Remarkable. Thanks Clark for sharing this rare gem. HumuloneRed (750), Portland, Oregon, USA

The nose is of sweet cherries, cinnamon, wood and earth notes. The flavor is a very balanced marriage of sweet cherry, acidity, wood, and earth. One of the most well balanced and refreshing beers I have ever had. Spot on! I’m very happy I was able to enjoy it with a group of friends new and old! Thanks again Logan! There’s a cartload of funk to pair with the amazing cherries in this beer. To me, this epitomizes kriek. Tastes just like the countryside. Brilliant. rmalloy (195), los angeles, California, USA

Not sweet like the most common fruity lambics in America (which I like, btw). This was really, really complex. The flavors were so funky that it’s hard to describe them. Dark pinot noir red colour. Hazy.
Spicy aroma with acidic spicy cherry tones.
Acicid flavor with spices, cinnamon and olives. Acicid finish.
This is a top ten beer.
The balance between the spicy wild grown Scharbeek cherries and the acidic lambic of Armand Denbelder is prefect. This is as close to a fine pinot noir you get by using cherries and beer. You would think that the difference between the regularly used Slovenian sour cherries and the original Scharbeek ones shouldn´t be that big, but it´s huge. Armand for this got hold of 900 kg of cherries. This one is rare. If you see it, buy it. JorisPPattyn (5193), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 10, 2003 Ultra-superb indescribable deep red colour; good dense pink head. There is also an ultra-flunky deposit at the end. Concentrated cherry aroma, full as nothing else but the bursting of a fresh, ripe sour cherry in one's teeth. Superb-tart taste, concentrated full-cherry flavour, neither sweet, neither outspoken acidity. There is a lambic underbuild, but is definitely subjugated to the all-conquering fruit flavours. All the above doesn't prevent it from a quite vicious acid-burn. Full fruity mouthfeel. Armand wanted this to be a flash from the past - and that's what it is. Now that real Schaarbeekse (in fact, virtually wild) krieken are getting rare and not commercially available anymore, he proved that if one really wants, one can make true tradition alive once more.
