Essence of a Flemish Sour in a British beer? Raspberry cherry fruitiness with a lingering maltiness. Deep amber. Low bitterness, sweet finish, not a vibrant aroma. A bit sickly in the end. O.k., but a poor substitute for what would have really satisfied me (ie. a Flemish Sour). (on cask at Blackfriar’s, Glasgow)

Blackfriers. Aroma is dark fruits, hints of roasty malt with a tart berry cidery sharpness. Taste is similar blackcurrent cidery sharpness, it was also hazy after 7 days of racking so i took it off.

Hand pulled at the Bartons Arms, Birmingham. A mixed bag beer this. Deep, chestnut brown, with a loose head and bitter aroma. Starts good, with a strong, gluey boiled hop intensity, but this fades in malt, with sweet turning to dryness. I like the start more than the finish.
