chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Nov 2, 2007 Cask (handpump), Shakespeares Head (JDW), Holborn. Amber colour with a modest but lasting, off-white head. Prominent, solid hop presence on the nose. Spicy and fruity with a steely, mineral edge. Pronounced chalky bitterness on the palate with grapefruit. Some juicy, fruity malt in the background. Nicely balanced with a firm mouthfeel and a slaty bite. Lingering bitterness on the finish. Nothing too complex here but an exemplary best bitter. Top notch.

Appley malt and hops in the aroma with a taste much the same, some bitterness in the finish but quite well balanced overall. Not bad.
