Maria (4344), Thisted, Denmark Jun 9, 2008 Blind tasting @ Yespr. Hazy, golden with a grey hue. The aroma has sweetness and notes of fruit and candy sugar. The flavour has sweetness, notes of malt, candy sugar, light fruit and yeast. The overall impression is too sweet.
fonefan (4850), Ulfborg, Denmark Aug 11, 2008 Bottle 75cl @ [ Mafioso Blind Tasting @ yespr, Bottle #05.] Unclear light to medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lancing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wheat, fruity, spicy, moderate yeasty, banana notes. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (300508) MartinT (4373), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 9, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Honeyed orange peel and peachy esters converse in a balanced and cohesive flavor profile until doughy yeast and softspoken peppery, herbal hops add a touch of complexity. This is another authentic Belgian-style Strong Ale from Via dei Birrai.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam recedes to a ring atop the cloudy dull golden.
-This is Unibroue-like in its shape and design, but it’s not quite as impressive as the top tier of its Belgian-style family.
-Light alcohol warmth is present throughout.
-Honeyed sweetness and fruit (peaches, pears) linger nicely in the finish.
-The flavor profile is a tad more expressive than the aroma.
-A slick body is sculpted by an oily palate and prickly, smooth carbonation.
