Opaque amber, full fine head, solid lace, sweet spice aroma, lots of banana, rich sweet malt flavor, lots of banana, hint of clove, dries out upon warming picking up some alcoholic hotness, the banana recedes, the clove comes out, and a touch of bitterness appears in the finish

the age thins it out and mutes the sweet fruity character

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2006 Muddy beige colour. Footy, yeasty aroma. Flavour is toasty, earthy and assertive with hints of late acidity. The yeast sits a bit heavily on the palate and the malts aren’t bright enough but it’s a decent saison. hopdog (5591), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2006 1 liter flip top bottle acquired in trade with goldtwins (thanks!). Had a tag on it labeled bottle # 66 / 180, 6-15-05. Opened to a loud pop. Poured a medium orange color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of spices (cloves and light peppers), bananas, yeast, and citrus. Tastes of citrus, lemons, spices, bananas, and some yeast. CaptainCougar (5493), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Sweet caramel Belgian malty aroma has lots of bready yeast and some light fruit. Body starts with a pleasant malty sweetness turning more dry, floral and nicely spiced toward a yeasty and lingering bitter finish. Nicely balanced, authentic and enjoyable. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Honeyed biscuity maltiness tends to dominate the hoppiness in this lean and clean Saison where coriander spiciness and its ensuing orangey fruitiness are intelligently used in small doses.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam covers the lightly hazy blond.
-I thought this was rather sweet for a Saison, but I don’t know how old the bottle was; maybe the hop character was fading out.
-Carbonation was appropriately active yet smooth.
-The finish was lightly hopped, and proffered more malty cleanliness.
Bottle at the brewpub; thx Dennis! JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Very estery and sweet, bubble gum, black and white pepper, apple/pear, yeasty and bready. Strongly peachy flavour with some light raspberry aromas as well. Very yeasty and fruity. Heavy minty aroma/flavour through the finish. Cooling sensation. Very nice beer. BückDich (4848), McCall, Idaho, USA

Golden hazy, nice head and lacing. Nose of bright citrusy hops and light spice, some stank pilsner malt. The flavor is creamy. Nice and tart/bitter. Actually a fine belgian ale for georgia. chriso (4796), London, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 1, 2006 Bottle at RBSG Grand Tasting, July 2006. After tasting a fair few saisons on my travels in the US, I’d have to say this exhibits some of the attributes of the American take on the style. That is to say rather cleaner, smoother and fruit influenced than the Belgian style without much in the way of earthy, funky character. Fairly estery aroma with apples and peaches to the fore. Some yeasty notes. Quite dry on the palate with plenty of bready malt, almost grainy. More fat yeast and juicy fruit with just a hint of acidity. Sweetish edge on the finish. Interesting but I’d prefer a bit more farmyard character.
